Wait, so are you telling me the strategy shouldn’t be to outshoot and out chance teams?
- sbroads24

Correlation and causation aren't the same thing. In the long run(thousands of times) yes, out shooting and chancing your opponent will lead to wins, but over the course of a season, or a 7 games series? Meh.

Again, he has 0 goals this year of the deflection, empty net, wide open tap in variety like McCabes last night. He has 2-3 of those and Sobotka cashed in on a few of his chances all the sudden Tage is on pace for 15-ish points over his last 30 games which is great for third line minutes and limited PP
- sbroads24

If all Tage is, is a 3rd liner,
then we should trade him ASAP

I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Fitz hates the Oreilly trade and would be happy if Sobotka and Thompson never played another game as a Sabre

- sbroads24

Lol...
of course it was YOU AGAIN that brought up ROR

Sobotka does blow
U really gonna defend him as 3C?
Go ahead... i dare ya

And Thompson’s “Corsi #s” are great
But Corsi is a BS stat
It’s insane that you don’t recognize this and how much u base your opinions off it

Let’s say his line has a Corsi of 56% out there
You know what an advantage it is per game?
Something like 9shots for us to 7shots for them

So whooopidy freaking do
We got 2 extra shots when he was out there
HOW MANY WENT IN THE NET?

What i HATE is that we traded for 3 guys that were supposed to provide depth scoring...
and they haven’t done Jack sh!t
Get a freaking clue dude

Your patience level with Tage is totally contrary to your patience level with Josh Allen? I know they are different sports, but I find this interesting as it's similar in terms of both being rookies
- joevthree

That couldn’t be more incorrect

We all know Allen needed LOTS of time to develop, hence “not ready”

Mitts is a better comparison to Allen in that u can see the talent,
but he just isn’t there yet

With Tage...
his best attribute is his shot
Yet, when he gets chances,
he isn’t cashing in

It would be different if playing with Sobatka or Mitts was keeping him from getting these chances
But he IS getting them

What’s concerning...
is that he isn’t burying them

It should be to outSCORE them
This isn’t complicated... at all
Most shots aren’t event remotely likely to score
Your fascination with all things Corsi is pitiful

Didn't need the word literally anywhere there. It contributed nothing to your point. Pull ROR's meat out of your mouth and get over it.

Sometimes not. Passes ricochet and go in. Own goals happen.

You *do* have to lace up your skates to score. But we don’t track that because it isn’t the right metric.

An article in The Athlectic spoke to the fact that many of the elote skaters in the league lace up and tie their skates in a similar fashion.
Maybe this should be measure.

Maybe Girgs and Sheary are using snaps like on binders rather than laces.

I think you hit on something... Basic Stats that measure these types of things ..PFPE ... Pound Feet Per Eyelet

PBTvWT. Percentage of Black Tape versus White Tape....Blabk helps with seeing where linemates stick is for better transition passing...
White Tape helps poor shooters see the puck position better on their stick

Lol, except it doesn’t take thousands of times.

And again, this is such a dumb argument. So should the Sabres build there team around players who will prevent “own goals” or have magic powers to prevent deflections?

Or should they build their team around guys who can create shots and chances?

This isn’t an actual question by the way

It isn’t, but you can’t grasp it.

You should tell me where teams like San Jose and Tampa rank in shots/scoring chances and make an argument they aren’t important or something.

Should be a blast to read

i know nothing of the guy... but if he is a legit player i don't know why anyone would choose football over baseball.. more money less future bodily damage and longevity of career.. however i assume picther and the longevity isnt there as much for them

Well thats the thing a 3rd liner on a great team and a 3rd liner on a sheet team are two different things

Remember Roy and Vanek were once 4th liners for us
If the top 6 is great then sure he can be a 3rd liner.
