It's just comical at this point. Sens are obviously dreadful, so it's just about developing the young guys and let the losses pile on.

Teams and fans make a huge mistake when they fail to fully commit to a comprehensive rebuild. It is not just about sinking in the standings. It is about staying down and being able to make choices based on long term goals over several years of bottom feeding.

Ottawa has two first round picks next year. They will add more. Good chance they will acquire a first round pick for this coming draft as well.

They do not need to win in order to be fun to follow. Young teams are fun.

If I were a Sens fan, I'd watch tonight. The Ducks can't score a goal if their kids life depended on it and if they get beat by the Sens without Matt Duchene, Barstool Bob Murray will probably fire Carlyle on the spot. Should be fun!

I think the fear of them finishing 31st, seeing Jack Hughes going to the Avs is a horrible thing. It's never happened before and imagine being at the draft and Joe Sakic going up their to announce that. Add to that Duchene being traded for a lower return, it's like being punched twice at the same time.

I'm not saying what your saying is wrong, in fact I agree, they need to tank hard and focus on the long term - but maybe bringing in assets they can trade next season isn't that bad of an idea.

Let's be honest, if Sens had their 1st this year, guys like Boedker, Smith, and maybe even Pageau would be in discussions much more

don't fret.

The sharks will be a lottery team and the sens are guaranteed to get the the 1st overall this year through them.

I think bottoming out and losing the prime draft will only accelerate the fans commitment for a comprehensive rebuild. A bottom is more emotional than substantive. John of the Cross writes about bottoms. He taught, even when you believe that it could never get worse, it often does. Bottom is only achieved through a complete surrender to the emotional pain. At bottom you experience full acceptance of reality.

At one point this year they were flying and were entertaining to watch, what happened to this team?

Duchene's baby is born and all are good! Some nice Sens news for a change!

Congrats to the Duchene family!
