I think it means he won't be in a Penguins jersey next season. That's the first thing I thought when I saw they signed DeSmith. |

It could also mean they hope to sell high on Murray after this year and roll with DeSmith and Jarry?
Just saying it doesn't mean Jarry is out. |

I can't see that. Jarry is still raw. Even at $3mm and change, Murray comes at a great cap hit for 1 more year. And DeSmith is a solid backup. If the Pens are going on a run this year or next, I still feel its going to come on Murray's back. And there isn't anyone they could get who is equal/better with the same or smaller cap hit. |

Just throwing things out there. I simply dont like writing off Jarry due to this signing. |

Agreed. Locking up DeSmith says to me they've made their choice on tending for the next few years (remaining window) and Jarry will be moved at some point. |

yea i see this as an all-in-for-the-next-two-year-window move. Kind of perplexed from desmith's side. He's got 40 games under his belt and performed solid if unspectacular. why not test the market? (he was going to be UFA right?) i'm sure there's some team who could have given him 1-2 years for more $
that said, i guess its a good thing he didn't lol. |

You still have a shot. There are enough weeks left. - Feds91Stammer
Ok cool. Hopefully next week will be stronger than this one. Stamkos, Atkinson, Panarin and Aho are letting me down this week. |

Nothing. As of now Jarry isn't playing at a level that would likely see him claimed on waivers.
And if it changes DeSmith's cap hit is almost entirely buriable. |

GMJR's last two trades have been pretty decent...so he's due for a dud...the writing is on the wall for a Jarry for Ferland trade... |

I don’t think that’d be a bad trade at all actually and I’m not sure why Carlonia would do it. |

Yeah, it would be a great trade for the Pens, not so much Carolina. |

Nah. Jarry has shown nothing to be traded for a middle 6 roster player. |

I'd be a little afraid of trading Jarry before the season is over at the rate Murray gets hurt. JR has always maintained he needs three competent tenders. I think Jarry is competent, but admittedly he hasn't done much.

After a few years of hearing how Jarry is going to be the next big time goalie, i'd be nice if he got a solid return. |

Probably cause he was a higher draft pick he was overhyped. Fucale was the only goalie taken before him and he has been in the ECHL this season. |

I've been dying to see a Pettersson-Oleksik pairing. JO's a talented player who makes poor decisions. Don't like him with Maatta because he lacks the speed to cover for those breakdowns. Pettersson while playing with Johnson has shown good ability to cover up his partner's mistakes. In theory I think they'd blend well but we'd need to see it.
Unfortunately, it's unlikely JJ gets benched and there isn't another great fit for Oleksiak. I still like him as a 3rd pair RD, but I can't really justify keeping him as a 7D at that cap hit especially when we have Riikola. |

I think a deal based around JO for Ferland would be pretty fair. |

Unless it's to prepare for the rumored Hamilton trade, which I'm not sure I believe, all their defensemen are better than Oleksiak. |

I don’t think they need another defenseman, let alone a bottom pairing LD. |
