Stone is a nice player, Anderson is another stop gap. I really hope they don’t overpay. |

Those of you questioning why on earth the Flyers would be buyers need to live in Comcast territory. You can feel that they are tired of empty seats. They even gave away some tix to youth hockey teams yesterday. Comcast wants butts in the seats and they want eyes on the TV. I believe this one. |

Why on earth would they give up prospects and roster players when they can just keep doing what they are doing and grab a top 5 pick FOR FREE!
I read that the Flyers need to win an absurd 70% of remaining games to sniff the playoffs. Mark Stone is great but even with him that is not going to happen.
He may ensure that we fall out of the top 5 though. |

Look at your proposal... and other reactions from other posters...
Stone is a FA, Anderson is washed up and Lajoie could end up being a decent 2nd pairing D... Provorov is a franchise D and you even added Nolan Patrick and a 1st going to Ottawa...
So... shut the hell up, stupid |

Can't look at a deal for Stone without considering what Duchene and Dzingle will get in a trade.
Ottawa only wants picks and prospects.
I believe the Islanders will get Duchene.
I think Boston and Buffalo will come hard after Stone.
Dzingle is the sleeper. He will bring a better return than most people expect.
I am at a loss at trying to figure out how Philadelphia can justify taking a run at Stone. |

You forgot Carter Hart, Morgan Frost and Travis Sanheim.... but to make it fair... please throw in Bobby Ryan.

Don't be stupid... Ottawa will trade Ryan in a separate trade to Buffalo for Eichel and Dahlin |

Want zero parts of Bob and they will never make the playoffs this year. - bird_dog_pa
They're just not making the playoffs no matter what moves they make.
Hughes. - FlyerFan16
Hughes - 2Real
Looks like the Flyers' fans I heard from they see the writing on the wall.
The Flyers have some really good YOUNG pieces, obviously Nolan Patrick being on that list. I don't think they need Hughes, that said, what a uphill climb to get back in the playoffs. It will likely exhaust them too (like the Sens in 2016) and they'll be bounced in the first round.
So I agree, if I'm a Flyer's fan, I make some moves at the deadline with the future (next year in mind) if you added Hughes to this group, and they were able to move a big contract like JVR or Voracek - not saying they will or can - then this team would be a serious contender for years to come. But they'll need someone to come in for a year or two until Hart is ready |

To AlfieIsKing:
I know 8 games is a small sample size, but to my eyes Hart looks ready.
Unless somebody overpays, moving out JVR or Voracek would be regrettable. Lots of good seasons left on those two and the contracts are at a price Philly can afford. |

You can actually develop a rationale for a team like the Flyers to use the trade deadline to grab talent for next year. Stone has been exceptional with the kids. He is a really strong character on and off the ice. The Flyers have some great young pieces and Stone would be a really good fit. But, it would be crazy for the Flyers to give up a 1st round pick and prospect at this point in their development.
A team like the Islanders, for example, are able to offer a mid round 1st, a good prospect and a roster player. I just don't see how the Flyers could structure a deal unless they involved a third team in the deal. |

Stone just looks like a flyer type player so it makes sense that they would go after him no matter where they are in the standings.
What would Philly offer up in return for Stone/Anderson reasonably given stone is a UFA and understanding this is more about the future than this year?
I could see Travis Konekny as being the roster player, either Jay O'brien or Morgan Frost, and then
1) a conditional first round pick: if Stone signs an extension.
2) A separate conditional second round pick: if the Flyers make the playoffs
I would guess Neuvirth would be thrown in for Anderson in a swap of under achievers.

That would be an incredible deal for the Sens...
I think a more reasonable offer would be Stone + SJS 2nd 2019 for Philly 1st 2020 + Provorov or Patrick |
