Who would you rather have the young D learning from..Keith or some rando is who has no feel for the uniform? People seem to forget Keith was here for some pretty dark days. He knows the story and I don't buy all the BS that has been spewed about him not caring. Its easy to mistake frustration for lack of giving a poop. Believe me, I have done it far too many time myself when evaluating players.
- Elbows15

People here have said that Keith doesn't fit the mentor role, I agree, that is more for Seabs. Being here through tough times, I agree, really good point.

I'm sure Q being fired stung, and he did show he was pissed. Then the frustration translated to other areas of play.

After the development league comment, I think he owned up to being bad in his own zone. He said something like Joki needs a better partner. I think he has been playing with a lot more confidence and think he has been our best d man.

Seriously. You don't need a ref for the trolls. Their pathetic life needs attention. Even the rfs banning them gives them validation.

Ignoring them is the cruelest punishment.

Edmonton and Toronto can't afford him in the long run. Keith controls where he goes and its my belief he is far more loyal to the Hawks organization than many believe. What do you know about his attitude but what you and others have speculated on here. He was right. The NHL isn't a developmental league.
- Elbows15

Keith's comments should be kept in the locker room and not made public. His play isn't all that the past couple of years to be throwing stones or critical of people. 2 goals in 2 years .

Toronto and Vegas , Edmonton all have interest if Keith wants to win Vegas and Toronto offer him the best chance.

This entire theory about holding onto guys to mentor is all peachy but then at least have guys who are team players and not making comments outsidemthe locker room.

Keith has always been a strange duck. He and Seabrook used to argue all the time on the bench. It was hilarious. The truth is they are extremely close friends.

He mentors in a different way. He is the tough love one. Though, even last season, Gustafsson commented on how he liked playing with Seabrook because he gets on him when he makes mistake.

Well, Keith is still the best D-man on the team and will be for the next couple of seasons. So, there is that.

Used to be my favorite part of going to the games. They would be chirping each other as they went off the ice. I think its was a huge factor is what made them so effective together.

Bows I agree with you on not making them relavent and to just ignore them. However his comments towards TC were totally uncalled for. TC is doing a great job of writing. It's always easy to criticize those without walking in their shoes.

Savvy brother - happy new year my friend...I'm sure Stan's lining up the next Brandon Manning signing for next season - at least he's moved Rutta which pretty much guarantees the Bolts win the hardware.

Have to wonder with all that cap space next season what they'll do - I'm assuming they'll make a run at Panarin which would still leave space for a couple of actual defensemen...?

Hawks should finish out the homestand tonight with another L giving them 1 out of a possible 6 points - embrace the tank.

- DK002

Hey DK, happy new year, hope you are well. Just got in from clearing 3 driveways from the "dusting" the moron forecasters said we were getting. Have a game tonight and wanted to watch at least 2 periods of the Hawk game before I leave but it's still snowing so I may have to clean again when I get home about 12:30am.

Would be so funny if Ruuta ended up skating regular shifts with the big club and got his name on a Cup. I've embraced the tank for a long time as long as they play some entertaining/decent hockey, which they have of late. Enjoy seeing Kane chase more points too.

I'm thinking Stan won't trade Keith, can't trade Seabrook and ultimately plans on the young guys coming up and taking spots. I just don't see a vet D man added. Also highly doubt Panarin is coming back but I suppose stranger things have happened.

Stay well my friend.

Not taking anything away from what Keith has done in the past, but that is debatable.

If it is true, it isn't good for the Hawks.

They need to stop having to lean on him so much, because he isn't one of the elite anymore as he approaches age 36.

He is still a top 4 guy, but he isn't a #1 or #2 on a good blue line anymore. The path forward for the Hawks isn't with #2 or #7 being the top guys anymore. That era has passed.

CUP, one of the best posts of 2019 - certainly one of best lines of analysis this year!
I wonder if you've been secretly watching my Men's league team, that description fits 'em to a T.

Hey Savvy

Rutta needs a plane crash if he gets to skate a game in Tampa.

He is depth guy....in the deep end....

S'ok. Ty is doing a great job and if I had to guess, nothing said troll said, offended him in the least. Think TC has pretty thick skin...though I could be wrong on all this and he's currently curled up in a corner in the fetal position gently sobbing, but somehow I doubt it.

He still is the best on this team. Who is better? That is the reality as of today and I would bet most likely, next season. As much as I like some of the prospects on defense, I don't think they will be better than Keith by next season, either.

For those interested in watching Boqvist play, him and the Knights play at 3:30 est on NHL network today.
- Black Raven

Watching this right now, good game. Boqvist had a nice pass for the primary assist on first Lindon goal. Later did a step through into the slot for a good chance but shot high.

Offense is almost ready and you can see why they considered keeping him for the start of the season this year. A little time in the AHL to work on defense and he can plug right in to the lineup.

Like I said, it is debatable. Your opinion is that he is the best Dman on the team. That's fine. He might be, but it's not clear cut and some of these guys "need" to surpass him on the depth chart if the team is to move forward, because Keith is good, but he isn't playing that well.

At times many people have felt Jokiharju was playing better than Keith. The coaches are giving the tough defensive assignments to Murphy/Dahlstrom.
Offensively, he isn't the best on the team. I don't think the Hawks will move him, but he should be playing second pair minutes at this point. He is getting to the tail end of his career.

Think the d-league comment was just frustration. Am guessing that Keith would like to stay if they can compete by 2021, otherwise he might consider moving to a contender.

In any case I think the big moves will be next year when they know more about the young guys.
