Yes Delia is not our problem right now. I like him as our future in goal.

As for Panarin, I do not think this team is in a position to be handing out a long term fat contract to a player turning 28 when the next season starts. We have enough of that hurting us now.

That single point hurt us when most of the tank teams were taking 2 last night. What a log jam though in the tank standings!

I waited about 40 years for them to win one, so suffering through a couple seasons of mediocre hockey with some players better than the ABC line while they rebuild? Could be worse.

Hadn't looked that up as far as Stone not playing an entire season but interesting point, especially for a guy who could garner $9M.

Should Stan go all-in with a guy like Stone or Panarin or sign a couple mid-tier UFAs to improve the team’s overall depth at forward? Maybe guys like Dzingel, Lee, Nelson and Donskoi.

I wouldn’t have a problem with that and think that may be the right way to go.

Dzingel is going to sign this offseason with Chicago, mark my words. Trade Saad for Dutch and extend Dutch.

5 milllion of cap space this year and unlikley to be used unless stanbow is setting up for next year or draft time deal.

15 players signed at $60mil cap hit for next year: kruger, kunitz and ward are most likely not resigned as UFA's; delia is a RFA

strome and ADB are RFA's the following year they will need about 9 mildo combined for those 2; crawford deal expires after next year

panarin at close to 10 mildo is nutz...nove on...they need defensive and bottom six help...panarin money would be better spent on getting 2-3 players to fit there..

if stanbow wants to really get creative and bold he moves arte and seab..maybe eats salary to get a few picks or marginal contracts in return and open another 5-6 mildo in cap space

I wouldn't mind taking a run at a top 6, but I mostly want depth, like you explained, and to go after a defenseman. Not all of our young guys will be ready next year. I have a feeling that Ward re-signs with us.

Why wait, Adb, Forsling, Joki, Boq, and a first will get it done now, then resign him.

With you on top 6. Think we have depth by bumping guys like Kahun down to 3rd line where he belongs and is best suited then replacing with a top 6 talent.

I agree Panarin money could be better spent.

But - they only have 3 proven quality top-6 skaters - including Strome (who some wouldn’t include) and excluding Saad (who in a year and a half hasn’t shown that top-6 skill he once had) and Kahun.

Three goal scorers on the team - and Toews has only two goals (and 9 assists) in his last 13 games.

And not much scoring help in the system, I think - maybe Sikura, maybe Entwistle, maybe (probably not) Ejdsell. Maybe.

They need top-Forward help as much as anything.

I’d prefer to sign two mid-tier forwards for the price of a Stone or Panarin. I don’t think the Hawks are at the stage in their development where Stone would put them over the top like Hossa or possibly Tavares for the Leafs.

I’d like to see Stan sign Dzingel for sure, then maybe Lee or Nelson.

Yeah, I hear you, DK. Getting cap space doesn't mean blow it all on one guy. We are close, but I agree with you on Stone and how he could help us. I think Strahlman is a good add as well, we need d help.

Dzingel would be good. I like the other guy you mentioned before, Donskoi. He’s a pain to play against. Could use a couple guys like that who also have some skill.

DK said it best, a top 6 will help, but not as much as we like/think.

I agree that JC needs to slot players properly, and not on their off-side, and dole out toi a little bit better. The last 2 you didn't say, just my personal peeves.

I like Stralman too on a short deal. Wonder what he'll ask for? TB will have to dump someone with 3 d-men UFA's and Point an RFA.

fair enough but call me skeptical that top 6 help is coming from sikura, entwistle or ejdsell..

saad has become (or maybe always was) a one dimensional player: 80% of his goals come from within 10 feet of the net; he is not a sniper or great shooter, can't create all that much and needs set-up help. mediocre 2 way player and not a physical player given his size...

he can thank toews, kane and hossa for getting his undeserved big 2nd contract...

I agree bogie about Saad. I still think there are a few GMs that would trade a player of value for Saad. What about Saad to Pittsburgh (Home town), for Ollie Matta?

Exactly. He gets paid top 6 money but isn't worth it and doesn't have a NMC. Trade him to a place like Ottawa where no one wants to go and see what you can get back. Use that $6 million elsewhere. This might not be well-received by many on here but send AA elsewhere too and boom you have a boatload of cap to use on a guy like Dutch, add Dzingel, and as much as I'd like to add Stralman for a short deal they'd have to move someone from the current defense group and I'll believe they move Seabs or Keith when they actually move them.

Not a bad idea. How about Saad for an expiring like Dutch? (Sorry for the Dutch train I'm on today gents!)

Stone is a great player, but tbh, I’m not sure this team is close enough to being a contender even with Stone to justify the kind of cap commitment it would take to sign him.
