I don't want him either, just saying I think he stays where he's at.
- I Am The Breadman

I don't see it. Think he will be traded. Philly needs to change up the "core" of that team.
And he is a part of it.

Hahaha! It was connected to making trades, not my strong suit. I have July 1st plans. So go suck an egg, haha.

My July 1st plans is to hit the F5 key repeatedly.

He'll have to waive or give a list of teams. I don't know his contract set-up.

Schmaltz, Ruutta, Manning, Martinson, ........hopefully Gus and Forsling are next, I'll get shredded for this but we need some D that actually can defend instead of looking like they are on a table hockey rod while skating backwards waving their sticks from side to side as their opponents skate where ever the hell they want in the Hawks D zone.
Schmaltz ..... no balls to play in this league, now that he suffered this injury, he'll avoid ANY contact at all costs. Tocchett otta love that !
Martinson.... Beer league player, should be skating in late nite games and watching pro games in a bar like the rest of us who stunk at the sport.
Glad to see Bowman stepping up and trying to correct his mistakes instead of making bull crap excuses for them.
Hope this kid gets a chance, 6"2 200 , and a top 10 pick, hopefully he can find it here.
I don't care about Gus and Forslings O capabilities, they are both terrible D man and soft as hell in their own zone.

Is the new D from Tampa going straight to Rockford or will they give him time with the big club? Is this a guy who can play or simply a D that came back in the Rutta dump?

If I am Bowman, I walk away from this guy and Perlini. Neither are worth an increase in celery. They both kinda suck anyway.
- Elbows15

Since the trade was made, you have to take a look at him in AHL and probably NHL. He had been a pro for a while now; he is injury prone going back to juniors. Was considered a steal as he fell out of first round. Nowadays most of your defense needs to be mobile and can move the puck. More and more speed wins. Rutta has experience and a good shot. If he can put forth better effort in physical play, he could be a reliable depth player. Bottom line:

Rutta was done here but the new guy might play some particularly later if Gus is traded. Might some team offer a #2 for Gus? Gus is like picking flowers in that idiom or expression of love his game, hate his game and back and forth you go with your evaluation. I would rather keep Murphy for toughness and deal the offensive Gus. I say it is a win win to let Gus play a lot now and see whom bites at trade deadline. Even if the hot shot prospects need some time in Rockford, I would give Carlsson a long look next season. Perhaps the newbie from Tampa gets a look as well.

Unless someone is giving you something decent for Forsling, I wouldn't just trade him to be rid of him. He'll be 23 in June and may still figure things out defensively.

Gustafsson? Yes is D sucks, but unless someone wants to overpay for him too, I wouldn't just flip him for a 3rd rounder.

THe hawks have 9 defenseman now , I think Chicago wants to see if Slater K might actually be a solid pickup . Forsling isn't getting traded.

My conclusion is that Stan is working on a bigger deal , that could be either , Keith, Seabrook or Gus gets traded.

The draft pick swap wasn't a bad thing but it wasn't IMO the main piece it's a 5th round nothing worth swooning over.

Their was a recent article yesterday that talked about next year 1 maybe 2 of Chicago's defenseman making this team. So let's see how things work out

All of this “trade Gustafsson” talk - he is, I think, the first “QB” who’s run a successful PP in...how many years?

I had some wifi issues at the start there but sorted it out quickly.

Some fun topics covered from the Koekkoek, Gustafsson, is Stan the right guy for this retool?

Check it out.

A long time. I'm not against trading him in the right deal but I'd rather keep him to be the PP QB and play 3rd pair mins until Boqvist, Mitchell or possibly Henry, show they can do it.

Let him play placeholder, I'm fine with that. He has greatly improved the pp, I'll even add in Strome. I don't know if Gus's game can fully develop at his age....

I agree also on Forsling, it's too early to give up on him, imo.

Think Strome does some of the same things AA does in terms of going to the net but also making some nice passes.

Saw the stat the other day where they scored 12 times in their first 105 chances and since they switched things up, they've score 11 times in 30 some odd PP's.

It would be nice to have more than Strome and Toews going netward.

Gus' game is fully developed - you see the same on ice stupidity every night. At best he runs the PP and rides the pine the rest of the time.

I just love this analysis because it is pretty much bang on.

Stan's best move by far was getting g rid of Twiggy Schmaltz.

Who signed these guys originally that are getting traded off now? It sure wasn't that coach who was fired.

Tbf, Schmaltz was a draft pick and not a bad one for a what, 20th, 21st pick? I'd hardly call that a mistake.

The mistake would have been signing him to term and $6M this year, but it was never made.

I didn't mind the trade then and like it more now as Strome appears to be a pretty good player. There was a pretty good article on him in the Herald about him and DeBrincat hanging out together, and how maybe they do this summer as well to stay in Chicago to train.

While I agree to the idea I’m not sure we have the 5 other defensemen to cover him playing limited minutes. Even more so if the other team doesn’t commit many penalties.

Listening to it now as I type. I like it so far. I've never listened to podcasts or anything. My first, haha. TC, you're a funny guy "the dying joke" made me laugh. When it started out, the first guy talking sounded like Thomas Lennon, but then it turned out to be Jeff.......

I'm fine with him running the pp. I hope that Joki switches with Gus, less of Gus is fine with me.
