Anthony Travalgia: Bruins let important point slip away After tying Monday's contest with the Canadiens in the game's final minute, the Bruins allowed the OT winner just 15 seconds into the extra period.

Colby Cave on waivers less than 2 weeks after the Winter Classic, where Bruce needed him in the lineup sooooo bad that he refused to call up Bjork.

Wasn't Bjork injured just before the WC?

Bjork hasn't done anything to earn that spot so far this season, but I get what you're saying.
I have a feeling that there's gonna be some moves made soon.
I hope Donnie doesn't do anything foolish.
With that said, I'd like him to acquire Matty D from the Sens.
I'd take Bob Ryan in the same deal if Dorian would take Backes plus kids and picks in return.

Good hockey game. Bruins had their chances, but couldn't capitalize. The Carey Price / Shea Webber combo definitely had something to do with it. Oh well... got a loser point. On to Philly.
Lost Cave on waivers to Edmonton today. Crappy news... I think he filled in admirably. Cehlarik called up and has been fairly hot in Providence. Does this mean Backes is the odd man out? I think Butch is fed up with him. I can't believe he has another 2 years... ugh. I wonder if Donny can find a way to Joffrey Lupul him?

He got SMOKED after playing only a few games, not sure what the extent of injury was but YES he was injured.

I'm not too concerned about losing Cave, wanted to see Cehlarik all year anyway

IMO Colby Cave's are a dime a dozen... I mean, you hate to lose a guy for nothing, but he was never going to be more than a AHLer with some possible fill-in prowess in the NHL.

And the Backes experiment on the 2nd line is over for now.

As much as I'd love to see Matt traded to Boston, where would he play? 3C? He has played a little wing in his career, but he is most effective as a centre. I don't think Donny is willing to give up a bunch of picks and prospects for a significant rental. Crazier things have happened, I guess, but Wayne Simmonds is who I would target, if the price isn't too steep. If Bobby Ryan had the same term as Backes, I would do a 1 for 1 swap. Ryan is on pace for 50 points and we know what he potentially can do in the playoffs (he killed us two years ago). At this point, we could very well have a $6M man watching games from the pressbox, so at an extra 1.25M, it could potentially be worth it. Ryan has an extra year though, so that would be the deal breaker, IMO.

You guys want to bring in Bobby Ryan! WHAT!

I will take RYAN Dzingel but Bobby RYAN. Hard Pass.

I think there are much better ways to move the David Backes contract than taking on a worse one.

My biggest gripe is that Bjork looked real good at times with Bergeron and Marchand last year, and Bruce BARELY played him there this year... those were his least common linemates. I wanted to see them try that again to allow Pastrnak to play with Krejci and spread things out a bit. But yeah... he didn't really produce in the bottom 6 this year.

Also, Bjork got injured in a game on Dec 30th with Providence... so if he was up for the Classic, he wouldn't have been in that game.

I've been waiting for Cehlarik too... he looked real good in his stretch with Krejci a few years ago, and I remember him having a few real good chances and just not getting the puck luck to go his way. Honestly it's a bummer it took this long to give it a try.

I think Bjork is right where he belongs (AHL). He did have a good preseason last year and looked ok at the start of last season, but I'm not sure if he has the mental tools for the NHL game. 1 goal in 13 AHL games doesn't cut it either. I have a feeling that he'll be part of a package that lands a rental at the deadline.

A lot of talk about wanting Nugent-Bustkins here. Open question for the room...Why? IMO the kid is weak, and so far has been a disappointment. I get he has been in Edmonton but as a #1 overall pick the expectation is he should be able to elevate players around him. His career numbers are DREADFUL.

I'm also not a fan... He's a number one C with numbers that match Torey Krug's as a D.

I like Schenn and think he would fit perfectly with what we need.

I probably would have said the same thing a year or two ago but i feel like he has gotten better. Plus he is still only 25 years old.

He seems to have started to emulate his game around McDavid without the insane wheels. I think it will do a world of good for him to get out of there.

He has 42 points in 46 games... That is not dreadful.

I would take Schenn first as well but if you can get Nuge for the right price. That is not a bad get.

The stuff I've been hearing about Schenn basically sounds like Backes 2.0, though I can't say I've honestly watched him enough to form my own opinion. On paper it seems like he would be a good fit as a guy who could play 2RW or 3C, but I'd be hesitant with the stuff I've heard.

A guy I wouldn't mind seeing the Bruins take a shot on that I haven't heard mentioned yet is Micheal Ferland... though why the hell would you spell your name with the E before A in "Micheal" is beyond me.

I guess we will see how Schenn looks tomorrow. Lets call it a try out.

Talking career numbers, not a snap shot. His CAREER numbers for a 1st overall pick are Patrik Stefan dreadful. Hard pass. He is a having a nice season. Could be the exception and not the rule. You really want to give up another 1st for that? Wouldn't it be similar to Rick Nash? You're banking what could be and not what is.

Honestly, there's not really anyone out there I'd want them to spend their 1st on outside of Panarin or Tarasenko.

With how well Cehlarik played last night, I'd like to see them stick with this for a little while. They should have brought him up a long time ago. He took a stupid penalty in his first shift, probably due to adrenaline, but he looked good after that.

I thought Cehlarik had a solid game. Unfortunately Coutourier had a better one.
