Carter Hart. I'm a bit worried about this break coming up and effecting the kid's momentum. Would it be terrible if the Flyers sent him down to the AHL so he can play 1 or 2 games down there to just stay in the mind set? Or am I over thinking it?

It is so nice when you get the opportunity to really write.

I hope that this little, organizational tinkering moves that Fletcher is making also lead to something more significant. I am not saying flip over the apple cart, but the team has three basic, well defined needs. If Fletcher is able to fill them without giving up too much of the future (which would be a massive mistake) then the team should be good to go...if you look at it as just a work on paper.

How this team comes together, plays as a team, buys into a system and plays it consistently and willingly sacrifices personal stats for team victories...that is yet to be decided.

Any other Leaf haters in here just loving the fact that Nylander has 1 goal and 2 assists in 18 games so far?

Sorry off topic.

As for Carter Hart, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a game or 2 with the Phantoms during the break. Unless there is some sort of roster/waiver rule that prevents it from happening.

I would still trade for him....in a heart beat...Buy low. I have watched a bunch of Leaf games and he is coming along....looks like he is pressing and trying to live up to the new contract.

Nice write up on Leier.

Buffalo fans always wanted Bailey to succeed but every opportunity he was given he failed to cash in.

Hes big and fast but plays a finesse game, he will use his size every so often and you say that's it that's the Bailey we need, but then goes back to a perimeter game.

I shouldn't be expecting much from Leier from what i can tell, probably get a shot as a cheap 4th line player next year or this year after trades are made.

I thought Leier and Laughton were too small a pair on the penatly kill and would get pushed off the puck too easily. That's why I believe Leier was dropped from the PK.

but they do have a boat load of talent...some of which they can and I'm sure will move... you are correct though....I think they might even do it this year in order to get an older top 2 d man who can settle their back end down. The problems really will escalate this summer with so many FA's that need to be dealt with.

I kind of like the move. In a way it kind of feels like when Simmonds was acquired. I am not saying Bailey is a next Simmonds but I do feel a change and maybe more of a role and minutes could bring out some untapped potential.

Maybe I also see a little more potential in what Bailey can bring compared to what I thought Leier could.

Gotta add size and speed where you can with this team. At least it's a start.

If Bailey is effectively replacing Lehtera/Weise I'll take it.

I don't think it's about that. Most likely that Bailey won't be an NHL player. Never know though, may be a late bloomer and the change of scenery might be good for him.

What an offseason for them huh. Nylander's slow start might make other players think twice about holding out in the future.

It almost seems like Cates had a better shot at the NHL than O'Brien. I think that O'Brien has a higher overall ceiling, but is a hit-or-miss guy, no in between. Cates seems like he could play anywhere in the bottom-6 and, while his ceiling doesn't seem to be as high as O'Brien's, his game and work ethic make him seem like a better long-term NHL bet.

Nylander's bank account says otherwise
