Anders Lee I’m sure they’ll sign after making him captain and Trotz seems to be a big fan of Nelson so I assume he’ll get locked up also. Lou is so secretive with everything you never know what’s going on but it’s been reported they’re negotiating with Lee. Eberle will most likely be the odd man out imo. Maybe traded at the deadline so we can get something but most likely they’ll hold onto him and let him walk.
- Cptmjl

Too bad with Eberle if they leg him walk for nothing.
I would not be interested...decent player but age, assuming desired ternm and desired pay increase don't align for 45 pt player for Sabres.

You’d be happy for him if he was just being a whiny quitter bc he didn’t wanna be here, or was stuck on the 4th line?

If he’s genuinely got issues,
that’s one thing

If he’s just saying all the things his agent told him that teams will need to hear to get a 2nd chance...
well, f him then

- jdfitz77

Why do you care? he didn’t want to be here, you didn’t want him here, we don’t have to pay him, it a win for both sides. I don’t care if someone picks him up or not, more power to him. poop happens.

Ya, agreed.
Hope he gets well fast, I don't have any ill feeli gs, nor wish him any harm.
I am glad the contract is off our books as it was looking like Okmoulso all over again.

I’d rather have Eichel, Reinhart, Mittelstadt, and Dahlin and 3 2019 first rounders over one playoff series win. Barzal is a fantastic player. Lee is a 30 goal scorer and a good player but will be overpaid or not on the Isles roster at all next year, ditto Bailey.
- Pegullaville

So last year when Lee scored forty doesn’t count? Also, we don’t know his contract yet... Bailey is signed for five more years so we don’t have to worry about signing him and he’s not overpaid. I disagree with you about the Sabres you mentioned. Barzal is dynamic Ill just leave it at that. Eichel is a good player. Dahlin is going to be a stud the other guys who knows? You guys have a great future need some more pieces obviously. We have a few years to go ourselves after losing Tavares but are trending in the right direction. Not completely different circumstances but calling us inferior because you led us in points for a few weeks in one season over the last six years is comical. Do you honestly disagree? Saying you’ll take three draft picks most likely mid to late picks and describing it as making your team better than the islanders is well... a bit strange. Let’s just leave it at that and agree to disagree.
Also, yeah we may completely implode before seasons end who knows? But inferior? Not so sure that’s accurate when comparing the islanders to the Sabres.

Yeah he was cold for a month but he’s turning it up now. I like Eberle but he’ll most likely be the odd man out it’ll be hard to justify paying him more than he’s making right now. They’ll keep him as long as we stay in playofff position I would think.

This isn't a poop throwing contest, but Eichel is far more than a 'good' player. If Dahlin is a stud, so is Eichel.

Overall, I'm very happy your team is doing well after losing Tavares. A playoff win over the Leafs would be great.

Common ground 😂😅

Lee isn’t on pace for 40 this year becuaseTavares is now wearing a Leafs jersey. Skinner is a perennial 25-30 goal guy but playing with Eichel is going to crack 40 goals this year. It’s the same situation. Lee is a good player though no doubt. Eichel and Dahlin will both be top 10 players in this league during the primes of their careers. Isles will be inferior to the Sabres over the course of the next 10 years no matter what has happened over the last 5 years due to us tanking. Also Barzal, Beauvillier and Pulock were all mid-late first rounders the last time I checked yet you poop on that theory that it might work for the Sabres to provide any secondary scoring ? We are literally two players away from being a dominant team. So yea in retrospect us sucking the last 5 years was a hell of a lot better then being a doormat in the playoffs.

So I have been trying to figure out how I felt about last night's game

The loss hurt, and hurt bad

But if it had to be any 1 player that had a horrible game which lead to a bunch of those goals I am glad it was Pilut, he will learn from them.

Scandella on the other hand...well he just sucks

Mittelstadt and Thompson will continue to develop. The draft picks will restock the cupboard. Botts will have a lot of money to spend in the offseason for short term roster fixes to get this team into the playoffs next year. We are currently 4 points out of a playoff spot with an 18 year old Dahlin and one forward line. We haven’t even see the best of Reinhart or Eichel yet either.

I didn’t poop on the theory that it MIGHT work I poop on the theory that it makes you a better team than the islanders or should I say is inferior to the Sabres that’s what we’re discussing here let’s stay on topic. Middle round picks are a crap shoot as anyone knows we’ve been fortunate with a few. You bring up Mittelstadt and Reinhart like they’re game changers and then say you’re two players away from a dominant team. Can you squeeze two top four players and an entire bottom six along with a second line, and a goaltender into two players? That’s what you’ll need to be dominant. You have yourself a one line team and teams figured that out. As soon as your secondary scoring disappeared so did winning. It’s not a big secret and I’m not saying it to attack you it’s just reality. Then you say you would rather have sucked for the last five years then made the playoffs like we did three of those five years and won a round like the inferior islanders did. First off I’ll tell you you’re full of crap. If the Sabres made it to the playoffs you’d be happier than a pig in mud stop fooling yourself. Proof is in this thread every single day that’s all you guys talk about. Second, how are you better off than the inferior islanders? We have depth on defense both in the nhl and ahl along with a top five defensive prospect in the game in Dobson. We have forward depth in the nhl with balanced scoring and one of the best centers in the game still on an entry level contract. You saying you’ll be dominant over the next ten years compared to the Islanders because your team excelled at only losing(which somehow makes the islanders inferior?)is quite a claim. How?
Who have you drafted besides Dahlin and Eichel who are potential game changers? What depth does your team have at every other position with the big club or the farm?
Dobson, wotherspoon, toews(who is in the nhl kicking arse), aho, Wahlstrom, Sorokin, just off the top of my head. That’s the farm besides toews for a team that’s already performing well, first in their division, Stanley cup winning coach and gm. This all against a team with a legit number one center, first line winger who may or may not sign with your team, a third line center and maybe second line winger on a contending team, and a most likely elite defenseman just drafted. Two players away?
I think not. Keep saying the islanders are an inferior team as compared to the Sabres. There’s nobody(even most Sabres fans I’d guess)in their right mind that’ll agree with you.
This isn’t meant to troll any of you other guys btw. You will have a good team and by no means am I saying we’re some dominant, contending team(we have a little ways to go ourselves)but calling the islanders inferior to the Sabres? The arrogance is a bit comical.

Check the archives if you don’t believe me but I’ve been cheering for two top 15 picks for at least a month. Our farm club is first in its division, our ECHL team is first in its division, Mittelstadt will be a good player in this league don’t let 40 games fool you. Reinhart is also producing at almost a PPG clip and I’ve been his harshest critic on this site. You can laugh all you want. I am impressed the way the Isles are playing right now and they are having a good Cinderella type story but the defense is aging and the bottom 6 is full of aging veterans. If you polled every NHL writer right now and asked which team has the brighter future between the Isles and Sabres I bet you at least 80% of them say the Sabres. I wish you the best of luck in the playoffs this year as a wildcard team. I think the Isles are a great story in sports this year. The isles have been the better club over the past 5 years but that will change pretty soon.

Because you say so or because you suspect writers would say so? Both of these things mean nothing just because you said so. I wish you the best of luck as a wild card team? You sound a little upset. Is it because you realize what you’re saying is kind of ridiculous? Knew that would happen eventually. Remember when I said Okposo wasn’t a power forward when you guys signed him on this thread? Yeah me too. Enjoy your weekend my inferior team will most likely gain another two points on Sunday.
