The Hurricanes were on the verge of waiving Victor Rask in favor of keeping Greg McKegg and Clark Bishop, so.... unless the goal was to save $1.25 million and get a 4C (Rask hasn't really played any wing at the NHL level), I really don't understand the purpose.

If Nino is nothing more than a 15 goal scoring defensively responsible winger, that's way more than what we were getting out of Rask.

"What in the hell is Arizona thinking? This Weal trade clearly shows that their front office has no clue how to operate a hockey team in today's NHL and that they will do nothing but fail until the requisite four years goes by and they can fire the GM they pretty much just hired." - James Tanner

Finally something I can agree with

I mean I wasn't over the moon with the Fletcher hire but what exactly has he done in Philly that warrants such writing? He traded Weal and Leier oh no how terrible

He was terrible in MN and he is a hockey lifer who is going to manage Philly just as bad as he managed Minnesota.

Rarely disagree with Todd, but Carolina won this by a landslide. They took on a slight cap increase, which they can afford, and added a proven 20 goal scorer, while the Canes have a project 0.24ppg player to work on.

Canes win, also, Weber is a better all round player than Subban. Have you seen Price's numbers since Weber's return? I don't think that it's a coincidence!

Nope. Wasn’t terrible. Trade wise, yes he was bad. But he made other significant personnel positive impacts for Minnesota. Drafted the likes of Granlund, Dumba, Zucker. Was responsible for the Parise/Suter acquisitions. Signed a 42 goal scorer in Eric Staal for a measly $3.5 mill per year and also Traded for Devin Dubnyk.

All in all he was not “terrible”. He was always very active personnel wise, which was exciting, unfortunately his trade moves more times than not did not pan out and at the same time compromised the long term future of the Wild.

^^^THIS^^^ Waddle couldn't screw that trade up in which he gave a BBQ sammie and some pucks for Nino...Now if he can pull another fast one and get a Center the Canes be in business.
