Dress Prout to teach Mantha a lesson in punching Hammer repeatedly while he was stuck on his back between the bench and the door?!! Would love to see the fight, not Prouts play.

One can dream anyways...

Hey Todd! I've been reading your blogs for well over a year now and respectfully have to say that as of late the passion seems to be missing. I can understand the lack of enthusiasm or shortage of content last year when they tanked shortly after mid season and were undoubtedly missing the playoffs. The team was a mess and news wise heading into the post season, ice cold. Still during the offseason you managed to write some great pieces given the little you had to go on. This year the team is red hot and easily one of the most exciting to watch. Feels like there is so much potential here for great blogs. I want to stress that I certainly don't have the competency to write daily sports blogs for multiple teams and respect what you do, but as a daily reader I do feel like the short formulaic " 5 things to watch & 5 takeaways" structure 3 times a week is a bit of a shaft. It would be such a tragedy if this year was a one off and next year reverted back to the "boring to cover" group we suffered before. I'm not speaking for everyone here but I know I'm currently a sponge for all things Flames. I read anything and everything I can that's related to the local hockey team. Rather than raising a problem, I'd rather be part of the solution. For example you mentioned you were going to do a piece on potential back up netminders the flames should look at. I recently listened to a radio interview where JD Bunkis suggested the Flames would be crazy to not go all in on Bobrovsky where as I'm more of the mind we should pursue someone much less sexy like McElhinney to back up Ritter. I'd love to hear your take on why or why not the flames should consider Bob. Also a piece on what we could and should do at the deadline, with some numbers on what we can afford salary and futures wise would be a great read. With the plethora of available wingers on the market, I think there's potential for scoring depth offered at a bargain deal for once this time of year. Stone, Duchene, Simmonds, Nyquist...what's your take? Your numbers are always well researched so I have no doubt it would be a great piece. Anyway as I mentioned not trying to slam you, just offering a bit of feedback from a daily reader. Thanks for your time

Bet 365 is better in my opinion. On another note do the Flames go all in to get Bob from the Jackets. It would probably cost a lot and who knows maybe Mike Smith finds himself that is the one that lead the Coyotes on that playoff run when Hunk was still in diapers.

Hey Buddy!

We can’t afford Bob barring a massive trade.

This year:
Tkachuk 8x8
Bennett 3x2
Rittich 4x4+
Mangiapane RFA
Hathaway UFA

Next year:
Brodie
Hamonic
Andersson
Kylington
Jankowski
Frolik
Stone
Czarnik
Backup goalie

I’m guessing at prices here but our team will look very similar for the next few years IMO.

With Columbus pretty much guaranteed to lose Panarin AND Bobrovski, would they entertain a Neal and pick/prospect for Bob?

Would Bob resign? He’s said to want Carey Price money (10 mil ish)and is known to implode in the playoffs. I dunno. If he wants 10milx6years than no freaking way..

His 8 month old daughter Charlie caught a virus and was very sick there for a few days. Big scare. Calgary’s children’s hospital got her on meds and she’s apparently making a good recovery. Thank the good lord above.

Thanks for the ups Boys. I really like Todd's blogs as well. Just thirsting for more in-depth Flames coverage while we're the proverbial belle of the ball. I'm not interested in Bob either. Just looking for a prudent counter argument as Bunkis was pretty aggressive in his opinion that we should go all in. If the flames were to dangle their 1st round pick, what would you guys expect as a return? I know it gets complicated with our UFAs next season and whether the player is purely rental or not but for fun what the hell. Thoughts? Detroit looking for firsts on Howard and Nyquist...

I was just talking about him being a rental player, not to resign.

Howard I can see as a rental player, but the price is to high probably considering the year he's having.

Yeah they can ask all day for firsts however doubtful it is that they fetch them. Kane did, although he ended up singing in San jose thus converting the conditional second into a first. Stone would be a nice piece at a similar price to Kane. Tre would have to work some magic the other way as far as signing him obviously (unlikely) but what about a 2nd purely as a rental piece. We can talk all day about our weak draft hands the past few years and how we need to retain our picks but on the other hand who knows what next years team looks like. Wasting career years from the majority of our core would be an oversight while assuming this team will have repeat success

Weak draft hands I would disagree on, the past few years the Flames have selected well, Monohan, Gaurdreau, Tkachuk, Valimaki and some guys like Dube as well. You want to talk about some bad draft picks talk to the Oilers, they could've had Chucky.

My bad. Was referring to trading future draft picks. The glaring fact that we havent had a first round pick in 2 years. I hear that issue raised often when talking about trading our picks for help at the upcoming deadline

I’d much prefer to keep our 1st as well.

That being said we are in win now mode. Butt I DO NOT want to overpay for a rental. No way.

If said player had at least one more year on their contract, then yes, I would take a hard look at the right player. 🤔

NO 2 month rentals!!

I don’t mind FF’s suggestion of Kris Kreider. I can see where he’s coming from with Bob, if Rittich goes down we are up śhit creek without a paddle. But Columbus will hang on to him anyways if there’s any chance of a playoff run. So no Bob.
