the whole situation is just odd. I don't think you tell a guy to not come to practice and to not travel with the team unless something happened. - nastyflyergirl
I mean he is pretty ugly to look at... |

That was in reference to Voracek, not Weise. Only thing said about Weise was "Weise gotta go". - Glak18

Bill, Anyone,
Is it possible that Weise was a not so good influence on Patrick?
NP talked about how much Weise was an influence and he is not having a good year.
It's odd to completely remove someone from the locker room like that, he had to be having some kind of negative impact for the Flyers to lower Weise's trade value even more by putting him in Quarantine... - BadCowboyDan
No. I put no stock in what is said. Weise is a teammate and no teammate is going to throw him under the bus. They are going to talk him up. Weise spoke earlier this year about how he was upset with his role and he didnt appear to accept it. I dont feel that this is happening because Weise has played poorly or because of his attitude though. I think Gordon wants NAK on the team.
Think about it? Why not just demote him and call it a day? Flyers have a ton of cap space so money isnt an issue, scratching him or demoting him keeps him out of the line up so why handle the situation this way? Answer: Weise is a well respected player by the team and management, so they are doing him a favour and trading him somewhere where he will get what he wants. He is a trade piece as well because management knows he has value. That is why a guy like Weise is being shopped over Lehtera.
If Weise was a bad influence on anyone the simplest solution would be to just demote him. |

I'm not sure if JJ is talking about end game TOI or most likely game situational usage...
Probably best to ask Jim Jackson since the words came from his lips. |

There's a lot of wacky jumping around here.
Weise wasn't happy with his role to start the season, now keep in mind the beginning of the season had Weise playing his best hockey as a Flyer...
Gordon wants NAK...yet NAK is not called up nor in the lineup....
Thinking about it....
Why not just demote him and call it a day, hmmm....yes, it would open up a spot on the roster if the Flyers needed it and since the Flyers have the cap space it really wouldn't have a damaging affect. Especially if he was a good influence like you said then you would want him around the young guys in the minors to learn from.
Then you say if he was a bad influence then you want to send him down so he could be around even more young players....wut?
Doing him a favor to trade him....but he is not playing, anywhere, or even practicing.....wut? Because all teams want a player who is currently not playing or even wanted to be on the ice when the team practices?
Weise's value....wut? You missed the news, he was waived and any team could of had him for free...what's that value again? |
|
|
|
So are you saying that because Weise hasn't played good on the ice he still can't be a good teammate, good friend or good person? - Glak18
Are you saying that because weise is a good guy he can’t convey honest frustration and negativity to a teammate about a team that signed him for 4 years then continues to scratch him, preventing him from playing the game he loves? |

You need a roster spot to bring NAK up. Flyers have a full roster plus are going to have 3 goalies returning soon.
Weise's value....wut? You missed the news, he was waived and any team could of had him for free...what's that value again?
Any team could have had him FOR THE FULL CAP HIT No one wants him at 2.3 mill. They want him at a reduced salary especially at at a time where teams are looking to add as much as they can for a playoff run. Space is tight as it is for a lot of playoff teams. Plus Weise still has another year still on his contract. We will be traded and we will be retaining cap. he is going to be around 1-1.5 mill
You also mention him being around young players in the minors but the team doesnt need to have him show up at all either. Phantoms can do the same thing and tell him not to show up. |

Nope not one single bit....but the reply was to this
They aren't even letting his stink out of his house.
In reading about him though, it disturbed me a bit that NP has had W as one of the greatest teammates to ever come down the pike.
I think W's stink has been what's going wrong with NP. - konalover711
See the difference between what you just asked and what my reply was to?
So if you are playing bad on the ice you still can't be a great teammate? Again not my opinion...Nolan Patrick said this. Does that mean if you are a great player then you automatically have to be a great teammate? Many players will disagree. |

He will get the Kevin Spacey treatment, because he touched Patrick’s private’s. 🤬 |

Don't think there is much more to the Weise thing then that he'd disgruntled and forced the issue. He cleared waivers and still hasn't been traded. If a trade were in place it probably would've happened by now. |

The Flyers current roster is 13 forwards (including Weise), 7 defensemen and 2 goaltenders, which is 22 players. You do realize the roster limit size is 23? But 3 goalies are coming back in the future...so Gordon doesn't want NAK now....he wants him when goalies return? But Gordon doesn't want to play Weise because he wants NAK.....but Weise hasn't been playing....but goalies in the future. Technically Weise isn't even with the team...so they have 1 official spot open and a need for 2...but somehow goalies activated in the future is the determining factor, not that they have to deal with that even if the roster stays the same, ok.
Oh THE FULL CAP HIT...so you are saying with inside knowledge that the Flyers are unwilling to retain salary and that's why he hasn't been traded yet, otherwise he would of been gone 2 days ago. Got it |

No team wants to add 2.3m salary for free, but apparently they will give up some kind of asset for the same player for 1.25....
I have a broken VCR from 1992, do you want it? Nope
I will give you $10 to take my broken VCR, do you want it? Ok.
How much is the VCR worth? |

I was thinking the same thing. Also, isn’t it strange that a guy as young as Patrick say Weise was the best teammate he ever had. Bizarre to me. |
