Key word...trying. - Glak18
Yup. I can't see any takers unless they absorb 50% for this and next year. |

i think i remember something like this before, now that he is cleared waivers if they trade him he can be assigned to another teams ahl team and only a portion of salary is counted against cap - mydoglicks
Gotcha. So basically he clears waiver with us so he doesn't have to with them? |

I would have to look up specifically what the rule is, but you would think right after clearing he would of been traded then.
He was waived in October, so that would mean a time limit of some sort when it is no longer valid. Is it a day, week or months? |

I was thinking the same thing. Also, isn’t it strange that a guy as young as Patrick say Weise was the best teammate he ever had. Bizarre to me. - Angus4444
apparently Weise and his wife would have the younger players over for holidays or something to that effect. All i think Patrick was saying is Weise was helpful to him.
that said there has to be more to the story for them to not want Weise around the team or even the Phantoms. |

The Flyers current roster is 13 forwards (including Weise), 7 defensemen and 2 goaltenders, which is 22 players. You do realize the roster limit size is 23? But 3 goalies are coming back in the future...so Gordon doesn't want NAK now....he wants him when goalies return? But Gordon doesn't want to play Weise because he wants NAK.....but Weise hasn't been playing....but goalies in the future. Technically Weise isn't even with the team...so they have 1 official spot open and a need for 2...but somehow goalies activated in the future is the determining factor, not that they have to deal with that even if the roster stays the same, ok.
Oh THE FULL CAP HIT...so you are saying with inside knowledge that the Flyers are unwilling to retain salary and that's why he hasn't been traded yet, otherwise he would of been gone 2 days ago. Got it - Glak18
1) Stolarz was just loaned to the Phantoms. That is our 23rd player. Neuvirth isnt going to be out much longer and Elliot will be back after the all star break. Mckenna will go so that covers 2 of the 3 goalies. One has to go down bring Elliot back. Hart might be the casualty there or maybe they just send Neuvirth down.
2) Is completely off base. I said he wasnt claimed because teams want us to retain cap. Flyers are looking for a deal now and a deal WILL have us retaining cap. For all we know a deal is in place already but there are things that have to be one on the acquiring teams side or there is something that needs to be done on our end.
There is definitely a market for Weise but we need to retain cap and Fletcher needs to get something of fair value back. |

Which should be easy for us. 50% is 1 mill. We have 18mill in cap space for next season already plus Cap is going up again. We will survive 1 year with a 1mill cap hit. |

I'm pretty sure he is waived till he plays a nhl game then it resets, or like you said if he does not play an ahl game in say 30 days he is automatically not waived anymore |

The players are trained to reply to questions from reporters a certain way. I think Patrick just got carried away with it. |

Tonight oughta be a good one, looking forward to it. One thing, though... As pretty as the building is, it's just the Bell Centre. |

I think they are just going by why would you want to trade your defenseman who is playing the best, most consistent hockey this year. Other teams need them, but so do the Flyers...so why trade someone you will need too.
Again the trade off is his value right now and what you get for him. If the trade off is too good to pass up then you trade him, if not you don't trade him for the sake of trading. - Glak18
Throwing out a young defense corps without veteran support is a bad recipe. The value that Gudas has in a trade is the same value for keeping him. - MJL
For sure, I am just confident they can get a good return. Just shows how much better Gudas has played this year since I certainly didn’t think this after last season.
I’m still of a mind that I would like to pick up a veteran defenseman who can be paired with Provy if things don’t go so great for Provy, Ghost and Sanheim. A legitimate team leader type.

This is possibly the last time I call for this.
We need bad cop Ted Nolan to whip these tabular rasa players into machines.
Then bring in the closer.
