No. I put no stock in what is said. Weise is a teammate and no teammate is going to throw him under the bus. They are going to talk him up. Weise spoke earlier this year about how he was upset with his role and he didnt appear to accept it. I dont feel that this is happening because Weise has played poorly or because of his attitude though. I think Gordon wants NAK on the team.
Think about it? Why not just demote him and call it a day? Flyers have a ton of cap space so money isnt an issue, scratching him or demoting him keeps him out of the line up so why handle the situation this way? Answer: Weise is a well respected player by the team and management, so they are doing him a favour and trading him somewhere where he will get what he wants. He is a trade piece as well because management knows he has value. That is why a guy like Weise is being shopped over Lehtera.
If Weise was a bad influence on anyone the simplest solution would be to just demote him. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
If they feel Weise is a bad influence, why would they want him around their young players in the AHL?
Here's what this is. The Flyers, in the NHL basement are saying he can't play for us and we don't want him around our team. Anyone interested? if they were just trying to trade him to do a favor for him, why send him away from the team? There's more to it?

Throwing out a young defense corps without veteran support is a bad recipe. The value that Gudas has in a trade is the same value for keeping him. - MJL
I totally agree here why trade him if he has value if you are getting back what you trade, you know exactly what you have with Gudas. Although not great with the puck he is a warrior excellent on the PK and super physical(really cleaned up his act this year) Keep him as your RH shot defenseman as he is the only one currently on the roster(not including Folin as he is just horrible) |

I'm pretty sure he is waived till he plays a nhl game then it resets, or like you said if he does not play an ahl game in say 30 days he is automatically not waived anymore - mydoglicks
10 games or 30 days.

For sure, I am just confident they can get a good return. Just shows how much better Gudas has played this year since I certainly didn’t think this after last season.
I’m still of a mind that I would like to pick up a veteran defenseman who can be paired with Provy if things don’t go so great for Provy, Ghost and Sanheim. A legitimate team leader type. - NC Flyers Fan
Are you prepared to pay the cost for that? For example the rumored cost for Jake Muzzin from LA is a 1st round pick and a prospect.

The players are trained to reply to questions from reporters a certain way. I think Patrick just got carried away with it. - StepfordSam
Agreed. I don't doubt he likes Weise, but I'm guessing Patrick was trying to be nice and went a big overboard. |

To be honest, I really want that RH shot. And yes, I’m willing to pay for it. May have to work really hard on other trades to get someone else’s first to compensate for that loss. As far as prospects, yes...we are well stocked.
I don’t want a repeat of this season if young defensemen struggle and the fit was awkward to begin with.

Phil Myers is a righty. Might as well see what he adds to the big club first. |

He is not the veteran that I meant. However, I think we will see some of Myers and Morin this season, which will be great. If Fletcher is looking to move one of the younger defensemen, I wouldn’t think that it would happen until the off season.

If Weise truly is unhappy with his role, what team in the league is going to give him more TOI? If he can't find time in one of the worst teams in the league, he's not finding it anywhere. |

Muzzin is 29 and has one year left on his deal. I just don't see giving up a #1 for him. |

People are speculating he is unhappy with his role, the speculations stem from his comments made in October 2018. Now it is 2019 and he is no longer with the team for reasons unknown.
For all we know, he dropped road apples throughout the locker room and the wrong person stepped in one. |

The only recent news item involving Weise was the JJ and Jonesy “private” discussion.

Weise may not move by himself may be a part of a cap dump with a larger deal. Ottawa flyers specifically have been heavily scouting each other at the NHL and ahl level. Who knows what could happen. |

This seems more likely...that Weise is a add on part of a deal.

Flyers have plenty of cap space, they could trade for the most expensive player and still have room. Dumping his salary is not needed, just getting rid of him is the bigger need.
Again even if the plan was to have Weise part of any trade...a dump, a swap or a bigger deal then this could all be done with Weise still practicing with the team. |
