To be fair... is Panarin telling every one that will listen" this is where I want to stay"?? is he telling every one who asks .. im not looking or thinking about anything other than here??
because that is what Tavares did for a full year .. while not negotiating a contract with the Islanders.
That is what Tavares said while knowing full well he was going to go to Toronto!
the Blue jackets situation is nothing like the Islanders situation...
Panarin has made it clear he really doesn't want to stay in Columbus!
Don't be a Snow job..Trade him for what you can get now.. do not let it ride until seasons end.. he will walk and you will get... uhh gotz! capeeeeash

Muzzin set the bar a little higher than expected netting a 1st and an NHL level player. True, Muzzin isn’t a rental, but he isn’t exactly a top pair guy all the time either

Panarin or no Panarin, the CBJ don't break 100 points. Although they are professionals and the trade talk shouldn't bother them, it will. They can be inconsistent, and if the top line is flat, it all rolls down hill.
This will play with their heads. I'm thinking mid-90's, hoping for hi-90's.

They have the 6th hardest schedule over the remaining games, with a bunch on the road - although I believe their record at home is about the same. Fourteen wins on road, and at home. Does that mean they are better on the road and worse at home ??

You're expected to do better on home ice.

In the comparison of Tavares/Islander to Panarin/CBJ I only mean that a) the players are top level talent b) they are stringing their current team along (granted Tavares did it much worse and Panarin is only saying he is willing to listen not going to stay) and c) neither ever intended to stay with their current team.
My argument for keeping Panarin is that Columbus is a better team with him in the line up, they knew they were only getting him for 2 years and he is essentially a 'rental' player for the CBJ if they keep him. A rental they didn't have to give anything away at the deadline.
The question becomes is 1st Round Pick > Panarin for 30 - 40 games and a possible playoff series victory? I'm beginning to think the 1st round pick is more valuable especially if it would be the NYR 1st round pick.
Bob should go for anything greater than a 2nd and 4th. He was a good investment and we can still sell high.

I think Panarin to the Islanders makes a ton of sense. I’m not saying that just for now either, bringing him in the offseason makes a ton of sense as well. They also have the room to sign Lehner and make a run at Karlsson. Lou can turn this team into a modest contender in a hurry if he wants.

I think the Isles should stand pat, but I also think bringing Panarin in (for the right price) would 1) be a huge upgrade this season (duh) but 2) I think it gives them a huge opportunity to sell him on what they can provide for him and his lifestyle long term. Playing with Barzal wouldn’t suck either

As far as trading Bob, I could definitely see San Jose dipping into the goalie market and getting an upgrade over Dell. Jones has always had good playoff numbers but he’s struggled this season. Calgary also makes a lot of sense. The goalie market is always tough to predict, but if Bob can rebound I can see a 1st and a prospect coming back

The price for Panarin? Who knows. My guess is the return will underwhelm most. Likely a first, a young cost controlled forward with upside, a later pick like a 3rd, and a prospect but one of those “who’s this guy” prospect. Having said that, it could be a swap of rentals. Panarin for Eberle, a 1st, and a prospect. Columbus gets to stay somewhat competitive while also getting futures (or trade chips)

What about a 3-way goalie trade that sends Bob to SJ, Dell to Edmonton along with maybe a 4th rounder, and Talbot goes to Columbus along with a 1st rounder or like a 2nd and a 4th from San Jose. Lots of potential goalie movement

Another suggestion was that BUF gets Murray and Wennberg (neither player a rental and Wen signed through 2023) with CBJ getting Skinner and a 2nd (which turns into a 3rd if he signs in CBJ). Maybe going too far to the BUF side with that one.

You're saying it like it's a good thing that Wennberg is signed through 2023

Dude has 1 goal. For $5m

And you get a 2nd with Skinner? What is this?
