Bob doesn’t want to stay. Panarin doesn’t want to stay. Tortarella has lost the room so he hired Martin St.Louis to get through to the players.
This just reeks of team implosion here.
Columbus is going to look much different next year... |

Well, you clearly pay no attention to this organization, . I don't think anybody in Columbus really cares what Bob wants. Most of us want him not to stay. Bread has enjoyed his time in Columbus, from all accounts, but wanting to stay someplace for 7-8 more years is another matter entirely. Very understandable.
And just about everybody in Columbus loves Torts and he definitely has the room. Oh wait, you're a Calgary fan...I get it now |

Bob is ONE issue.

The weakness is between the ears - for everyone - not just Bob. Too often, after we score, there is a let-up, can't keep intensity, allowing the opposition to come back & score within a few minutes. Losing momemtum.
The trade deadline is in everyone's head - will Bob and/or Bread be here - who might be coming in ?
This team is still young, one of the youngest in the league, and Jarmo has a great opportunity to acquire players, picks & prospects to set the CBJ up for the future - both short and long term. The cap space that is gained will also be an advantage for Jarmo to use.
True - we're losiing an elite player in Panarin, and a Vezina goalie in Bob, but the circumstances have dictated that everyone needs to move on.
The core is still solid - and if Jarmo makes a big trade or two - either before the TDL, and/or this summer, this team could be well set.

Sorry dude, but you're off on the booing Panarin thing. You can't "push him out" if he's wanting out, and he's wanted out since day 1. Literally the only difference between him and Jeff Carter is that Carter was up-front about never wanting to be here. Panarin goes around Russian media outlets giving interviews about the "shack" he lives in here in Columbus, that there's nothing to do here, that it's all just poor Arty being stuck in this desolate hell hole; then he turns around and smiles at us like he's happy to be here.
Don't give me the good soldier take either about him still playing well. He's playing well because he has to, if he thinks someone is going to pay him $10mil+ over the next 7-8 years he still has to earn it.
He told the team he wouldn't negotiate once the season starts, but he didn't even try to negotiate before the season! He strung us along and it's handcuffing management on what the can get for him by putting out there that he only wants to play in certain markets. Why is Florida going to give us assets when they can get him for free in July? Why is a contender like Tampa or Boston going to give up top notch picks and prospects for a guy that's only going to be there for 3 months at best? What if management wasn't planning to back up the Brinks truck or him and we could have made a move on other FAs last year (I'm not stupid, I know we weren't going to get Tavares, but you get the point). THIS. GUY. IS. A. BUM. I hope he enjoys playing in front of half-full barns in Sunrise with 0 shot at a Cup, all because his whiny a** wants to live on the beach year-round instead of just half the year.
And I pay just as much for tickets as the next guy, if I want to boo this entitled prima donna I'm going to. End rant. |

1. Columbus will look much different next year. I don't believe that Bob or Bread is on this team when Sept 2019 rolls around.
b. Bob is a problem and should be the back up right now
second to last. Booing your own player in a game where he has 2 apples and is arguably the best guy on the ice for your team is deplorable
z (4 or last point...whatever). Jenner and Murray for Nylander...throw in a 4th rounder and we have a deal (never take their first offer) |

Yeah , I mean when you hear things like St-Louis was brought in to '' communicate'' with the players because Torts has trouble getting his message across, that should be a flag right there that things aren't going well in that locker room, how long until Werensky or Jones decides enough is enough .... |

What ails the team?? The fact that your best offensive player wants out and has made it crystal clear he has no inention of staying in Columbus. Brandon Saad and Anthon Forsberg for Artemi Panarin
Also, Go Bucks (OSU Alum) |

I think it's more that Wennberg is playing like a dolt. I don't blame Torts for that. If you blame Torts for things like that then you also have to give him credit for having this team in a position to compete for the playoffs every season and for the success of guys like Anderson, PLD, Jones, Murray, Z, Atkinson etc.
The team is in a funk right now, but WSH has lost 7 in a row, too. It's just that point of the season. |

Todd Richards was awful. Awful. Holy crap he was bad.
Torts is the best thing to happen to CBJ imho. He's brought accountability to the locke room and a sense of pride. JD, Jarmo, and Torts have managed to take this franchise from being an absolute joke to competing with teams in the division that have Hall of Fame superstars in PIT and WSH. And doing it in THIS market? Honestly, CBJ people who dislike Torts just don't watch many CBJ games. |

Aside from that 0-8 start he did very well with the assets given to him, his first year the team was in full rebuild with notable 20 goal scorers at the time (heck they tied Minny for eight but lost out for lack of wins), then it was the playoff year, then the injury riddle season with a record amount of man game lost to injuries.
Sure Torts won a cup but so did Keanen, he's nothing more then a foreman with a whip who adds immediate shock therapy to a team. People say he has a shelf life and with reason and right now that expiration date is approaching. |

Trading Panarin is a no-brainer, especially if you can get back a nice haul of assets.
Think of it this way, if the Jackets didn't have Panarin, would CBJ trade a big package of assets to add him as a rental? Probably not.
I know it's a flawed argument, but it does have some merit.

Nucker101 - not as flawed argument as you think.
If the CBJ didn't have Panarin and say still had Saad would they mortgage their futures to get a Panarin type player.
I think they would trade Bob and some futures, say a draft pick or Milano, to get a Panarin-like player. I would encourage that now but not sure that deal is out there to be made.
I am coming around to the 'trade Panarin' camp. If there is a 1st + prospect + something else I think a deal would get done. That is a steep ask.
I was reading on a Win Jets site and there was a suggestion to trade Laine for Panarin. If I were CBJ GM I would take that trade, but it doesn't seem realistic. |

It's not that flawed. By keeping him as a rental you're essentially giving up assets that would have been acquired through the trade ! Putting the team in a future hole.
I say make the best trade possible - regardless of the team; picks/players/prospects. Then flip some of that bounty to get A1 replacements.
The remaining cast of characters will have to bust their butt every night to make the playoffs. Put on your big-boy pants and come to play every shift.
Kinda like McDavid said about his teammates - if you don't believe, get out of the lockerroom. |

Was at the game in WPG last night. Don’t get to watch the Jackets much, but last night made me a fan.
I love your team.
PLD and Josh Anderson are beauties.
You guys have to hold on to the Breadman and Bob. The Jackets are a team that could make some noise and surprise in the playoffs.
I used to cheer for Tampa in the east (really liked Lecavalier)... but the Jackets are my new 2nd fave team.
Best of luck the rest of the season. |
