Man this is going to be tough.
After Florida, in a week where a lot of these bunched up teams play each other, the Blues the play the Lightening and back to back with the Predators.
If they somehow went 3-0 you have to believe in this team no matter the result at the end of the season and write off as a too many players having off years but maybe make a cut bc of cap and age issues(age issues is the likelihood of players' games starting to deteriorate due to age, see Steen, Backes).
Going 1-2 is not horrible. Losing all three and you have to balance wanting a team that can be elite versus what you have in reality. The closeness of the games will also be telling. The Lightening are so deep it's ridiculous. They have to have the best scouting department bc of the number of undrafted and 2nd round and beyond picks they have that are huge contributors. Also the number of first round picks they have traded and become far better after the trades. You have a dominant winger and you need to get a good, young, puck moving dman, no problem. Yzerman made incredible moves.
