I am not a CBJ fan so i can only comment i see from afar. I think this is a pretty good team and its not like Korpy is a bad goalie at all. I dont think Bob or Panarin will re sign BUT is the team better with/without them? do you keep them for this years run? how do you backfill panarin production if you trade them pre feb 25?

I would like to see CBJ trade both Bob and Panarin to florida for: brassard, pittsburgh's 2nd and 4th round picks, and a 1st either 2019 or 2020 or i would also ask for dryden hunt or Aleksi Heponiemi. Then i would trade for Jon Quick.

Not tank but trade Bob and Bread for assets, if we make the playoffs , fine, we retool in the off season, if not, too bad , we draft in no mans land in 9th .....

I really hope that Columbus does the smart thing and trades Breadman and Bob. Neither is gonna resign with the team. I get being in the midst of a Playoff push, but I don't think anyone sees this team going on run to win a Cup with how well some of the "elite" teams are playing. Set yourself up for sustained success and don't chase trying to be a one year wonder.

If they REALLY wanna try that then at least trade ONE of them to re-coop the Farm a bit so you aren't hit as hard in FA. It's a crappy position to be in and I wouldn't wish that on any team (except Nashville, screw them ).

Could always flip that middle 1st for someone to help you guys out now. Teams looking to "rebuild/re-tool" are always looking to add high picks and shed cap space. You guys should have plenty that you could possible trade your 1st for a Top 6 forward to help you guys compete again next year. Just throwin' it out there

I'm somewhere in between blowing it up and doing the least amount of moves necessary. I think moving Bread and Bob now is the smart move. I think this is a good opportunity to address a few other things with those moves, if we can. If not, maybe make some extra moves anyways. I love Wennberg, but he needs a change of scenery and CBJ need scoring at the center position. If CBJ can dump a big contract, like Dubinsky, now would be an ideal time to do it.

Until a few days ago I was all for keeping both of them, and taking a run at the Cup. However, we have lost five in a row as you all know, and it is getting real hard to believe that this is team even going to make the playoffs.

If that's the case and they either will make the playoffs as a wild card and get swept in four games or not get in at all, then there is no real reason not to trade both of them.

Why? Just look at the lineup every night, we have two lines that score, and one awesome line that may be the best in the league when it is not split up to get more offense. But the third and fourth lines are playing like AHL players these days, even established veterans who have a good track record. Obviously we need players who can play hockey on the NHL level, and there's none in Cleveland.

See ya' Bob and Bread, thanks for the memories.

Making a 'Run for the Cup' is ridiculous to think from this CBJ team.
But winning a playoff series, a minuscule as that feels for other franchises, would go a long way with this fan base.
I am in agreement that sacrificing a sustained future of winning is not worth winning one or two (ha!) rounds in this year's playoffs. That is a short sided view.
CBJ can win a playoff series with or without Bob & Bread, they just have to get in. Two 1st Rounders > winning one playoff series this year.
Just the musings of one fan.

It doesn't seem so minuscule to me

it doesn't seem that way to me either, but have a hard time trading a 1st round series win for two 1st rounders.

The bigger issue moving forward is what to do with Alexander Wennberg. He eats up too many minutes, has been given wayyyyy too many chances, and is making no small amount of money at $4.9 million/yr. I genuinely love what Wennberg can potentially bring, but he just looks lost.

I really think it's time for CBJ to package him in with one of the Russians to get a legimate 1/2 Center back. Somebody who can make up for some of the scoring we're going to lose with Bread, while simultaneously providing scoring at the Center position.

Good thought 1061,

But who in their right mind is going to take a C with 1 goal and 19 assists in 50 some games? It's depressing to think about what happened to this young player in the last couple years. He used to feed guys for goals, but not shoot. Now he can't control the puck, feed guys, and still can't or won't shoot.
