Feel bad for Oiler fans.

1. They cant seems to stay healthy. When was the last time they had Larsson/Kelfbom/Nurse/Sekera all in the line up at the same time.

2. I know that having the 3 centres is a luxury, but it is a luxury. Look at Toronto. Mathews/JT/Kadri. OK, but when Mathews was out, Kadri stepped up. You are committed to Leon and Connor - would consider moving Hopkins for help on the wing - find someone that can play with Connor consistently.

3. Nice to see they have moved on from Chirelli. Man, what a mess that was. Almost every deal seemed to implode right in front of him. I think his best move was drafting McDavid LOL.

4. Be patient with Yamamoto and Bouchard. Don't rush. Let them learn in the AHL.

I know it was a typo, but saying 19 remaining games when talking about Draisaitl, you better not have just jinxed him into getting hurt. haha

What a pathetic management group. I don't say this lightly, but I'm confident that any regular fan here could've run the team the past 4 years and they'd be better off. Literally any of us; even the dumbest.

Don't worry about Matthews. Worry about your own team. People complain about hearing about the Leafs all the time, yet in their own team's blog they have to throw shade at the Leafs/Matthews. sad

I know I've talked about the 2 years that this team will have to endure before they can do much of anything but I'll be (frank)ed if I wouldn't much rather they blow it up. McDavid deserves better and it's at the point where I might prefer he ask for a trade so we don't have to watch such an exceptional player rot. Trade everyone but a few prospects.

Streaks both winning and losing are part of the game. You have the same team that went 9-2-2 or something like that when Hitch got behind the bench.

True given how many high picks you’ve had over the past, you should be like the Jets, Preds and Leafs, but heck you are still only 3 points out of a playoff spot.

And yet streaks where they consistently collapse in the 3rd and give up the lead shouldn't be "part of the game". There's no way anyone should be trying to paint this with a positive brush. They're dead in the water and would need St Louis or Minny to go .500 or below, no one else to got on a streak and for themselves to go on a 17-10-2 run.

Fans of other teams have said that the Oilers do not deserve McDavid, considering what the Edmonton fans have had to deal with over the past decade...they most certainly do.

Fans for sure deserve a McDavid after the past 10-12 years but everyone in management from the top of the top (Katz) down to the GM level definitely do not deserve him (at least since he's been there). Outside of Drai, they've done nothing of significance to build around him. Not all draft picks, trades and UFA signings are going to be wins, but man, it appears to be a never ending disaster in EDM right now!
People will say that McDavid doesn't want to be there anymore and all that jazz but I think it's totally the opposite. He didn't accept the C just because it looks good. I think he really wants to make it work there and he's not going to give up that easy. Edmonton is real great hockey city to be in especially they're good.
Unfortunately, to sort this mess out it could take 2-3 seasons in order to be successful again!

I couldn't agree more. We basically have Leonnor McDraivid and then... nothing. If they managed a playoff spot this year, all it would do is give Katz 40,000 extra ticket sales for when we get swept by either Nashville or Calgary in Round 1. But then "HEY, WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS BOYS, MY MANAGEMENT IS DOING A GREAT JOB!"

They really need a player like.....Stone. Assuming he would sign long term. Still young,

Perfect player to play with McDavid.

I always thought they should have traded for Hoffman - price would have been cheap and I know he had all that controversy, but this guy is lightning quick and could keep up with Mcdavid and is a scorer.

As you can see, no one talks about it anymore. Went away, just like that

I still believe that this under-performing, non-deserving squad will still make the playoffs. I guess we have the other crappy teams to thank.

McDavid should demand a trade and get the (frank) out of this tire fire- the team has been trash for over a decade with nothing in the form of solution in the immediate future... (frank) the Coilers... Katz deserves empty seats for the next 10 years... female genitalia held the city ransom and got awarded a gift and is wasting it... So tired of this bullpoop team and org...

I mean, you could probably build a whole top-6 just from the returns you'd net from McDavid and Drai. If you want a Dman in one of those returns, maybe send Nurse with 'em. McDavid is also an opportunity to clear some other dead weight.

If we were to try to envision McDavid and Draisaitl trades, what would it look like?

Draisaitl to Florida for Trocheck and Borgstrom?

McDavid and Sekera to the Rangers for Zibanejad, Howden, K. Miller and Buchnevich?

Nuge, Puljujarvi and Spooner for Zucker and Coyle.

Acquire Gudas.

Half-retained Lucic buyout

Chiasson, Rieder, Petrovic and Talbot out for whatever picks you can get.

Zucker- Zibanejad- Coyle (14mil)
Benson- Trocheck- Buch (9.5mil)
Khaira- Howden- Borgstrom (4 mil)
NHL Vet- Gambo- Kassian (4mil)
Tweeners and proven vets

Klefbom- Larsson (8.3mil)
Nurse- Gudas (6.5mil)
Gravel- Benning (2.9mil)
Russell, Persson

Stacked D prospect pool with Jones, K. Miller, Bouchard, Bear, Lagesson, Berglund, Samorukov, etc

Leaves around 17-20 mil in cap space with which to ACTIVELY pursue Stone and a good 1A goalie. If there were a way to guarantee Stone, I might even take these drastic measures.

Lucic by far. Sekera was decent when not injured. Lucic seems like he needs an injury to improve the team.
