Yep, I truly believe this kills any hope for the season (though I thought that was done months ago). Time for Fenton to get players out the door in trades and bring some young talent in.

I know it might sound kind of cold, but does Koivu then go on LTIR, and the Wild open up a bunch of cap space?

Hawks have a slightly used Artem Anisimov. Interested?

Yes it does. When Kane broke his collarbone a few years back it allowed the Hawks to trade for players to fill his cap space for the regular season then return in the playoffs when the cap is not applicable.

Too bad for Minny - would have been better off for them if Suter or Parise was the guy out for the rest of the season.

Deal. He's been brutal at times this year.

Parise, after 1 or 2 disappointing seasons, has actually been pretty dang good for the last calendar year.

Brutal.

You're in a wild card spot. Why tank all of a sudden?

anyone wishing suter or parise being out instead of koivu doesnt understand their importance to the team. Parise out = giant lack of offensive consistency/ pp points.
Suter out = giant hole on d with no one who can replace what he brings.
Koivu being out sucks, regardless of his offensive output, he still has great value to the team playing a defensive role. I think people would appreciate him more if they had another offensive c who could play top 6, so koivu could play a 3rd line shut down role.

Curious to see what happens going forward, I do not envy the position fenton is in.

I think this is the best position the Wild GM has been in a number of years because for once the wild have a real shot at missing the playoffs and most have been expecting him to make significant changes. If the Wild are out of the playoffs on Monday the 18th the fire sale should begin because there is no expectation to trade bit pieces to fortify the team for a potential "run".

No thank you. Nino's been incredible. Some of that is probably trying to put on a good show for the new team, but he's such a good fit. Has he guy lost a board battle in his entire life?

That's all he did was lose board battles here..
But it was easily predictable that he would succeed somewhere else. What a stupid trade. The same will probably happen when Coyle when he's traded. Do all these guys really need a change in scenery, or is there some reason why players aren't giving 100% here? Hard to say..

I mean, the team is REALLY old. You only have 4 guys under the age of 25 and 8 guys that are 30+

It's because Minny has had the same core of players for about 5+ years that mosey into the playoffs and then wash out. Real easy to get complacent when you ain't gonna be traded.....thanks Chuck.
