I really liked the look of Gravel when I saw him live. Great energy, work ethic, and he really seemed to gel with his teammates, especially the tender. To me, he deserves the spot more than Benning.

I also was pretty much disgusted with Reider when I saw him live. Man, this guy just seems totally tuned out and does NOT want to be out there. I'm not happy to say this about Reider, I was quite excited when he signed with the team. If he's playing like garbage he should go...it's not like he and Drai have some sort of secret German code-language...it was a nice idea but Reider is not pulling his end of the deal.

Yup, but such is the West this year. Vancouver holding it down with their roster is just a huge indictment of our organization- from management to coaches to players.

Just because no one else is grabbing it, it doesn't follow that the Oilers have a chance at that spot. They shouldn't be distracted by the failures of Anaheim, Phoenix and everyone else who should be contending for 8th, they should look at what they have, see it's incomplete and ineffectual and go into the deadline knowing full well that they're going to be sellers, 100%. Maybe minny can help with that tonight, but because it's the Oilers, they'll probably get the win on a night when they need it the least.
