I hear ya- kinda
Bc you’ve mentioned before that he’s still getting lots of chances
He isn’t converting on them though
So i don’t think it’s fair to totally absolve him for the lack of production

- jdfitz77

Yeah I think it’s fair to say he needs to bury more.

But I’m just not concerned with his point totals while he plays with a career bottom 6 player and maybe our worst forward (Sobotka)

He just won’t produce.

Reinhart has been excellent lately at creating and has 0 points over his last two games because of his linemates. Doesn’t mean he isn’t playing well.

They chase the puck in their own end. Just stay home (in your position) and things will get better! Simple - 101 of defensive hockey in your defensive zone.
- Irish 14

My buddy and i were talking about this yesterday. He asked me what i thought was wrong with the defense. I told him I think the Sabres start spazzing and cycling themselves in their own zone. They chase too much. They don't wait for the play to come to them at times. I'm not saying they should leave guys alone, but they tend to over-pursue in low-danger areas (behind the net, deep at the point)

The 2nd Jets goal is a perfect example. Eichel and Okposo both over-pursue to the point where the danger is minimal. Once Okposo got victimized by the pick and roll, the whole thing broke down.

That said, the Jets passing and cycle game is terrific

How about Okposo for Kesler + 1m retained

I read Kesler is just about done physically but is it worth taking a chance on? Is Okposo actually better than Kesler? Any chance Kesler can recover? Seems like one bad contract for another but Okposo might actually be the more servicable payer.

The advantage is Kesler's contract is a year shorter. Never going to happen but just thought I would throw it out there. Always liked Kesler's game even though he is a shell of his former self. Maybe he can recover to be a decent 3C

The 2nd goal was a pick thrown on Okposo but for some reason it is no longer a penalty in the NHL. Winnipeg were throwing them all over the place yesterday.

Sabres need to learn what they can get away with.

Yeah, there was also the pick the wild threw at skinner in overtime. It's clearly being tacitly - or maybe explicitly - allowed. I don't like it at all, but Okposo and Eichel's over-pursuit allowed the perfect execution of the pick. Interference has been a joke in the NHL for almost 10 years now. The Sabres were equally guilty of it yesterday too. I wish they would clean it up, but the penalty du jour in the NHL is slashing. Maybe someday they'll address the interference problem

I think that Kesler is completely shot, Okposo is just mostly shot

Okposo is more valuable than Ryan Kesler. Imagine that.

I don't think they need a Mark Stone (yes he would help tremendously)

They need a decade younger version of Pomminville

A 20 goal scoring 35-40 assist guy.

Not a slow guy but not a speedster.

Someone who has great hockey IQ and kind of flies under the radar.

Someone like Reilly Smith

What I noticed yesterday is that this team does not finish checks, at all.

I’ve never noticed until yesterday.

They just do a drive by skating where they reach out and basically touch the other guy like they are playing tag.

So basically they’re all a bunch of pussies

I think Stripes wants more speed than the wonder kid, but I like where your head is at.

If we go the free agent way, I wouldn't mind signing Spezza for a year.

Would be a solid addition. Hopefully Vegas thinks he's overpaid and we can get him for a 3rd and a player.

Think he might be looking for more than a 1 or 2 year deal. He'd be nicer than Spezza though.

I'm not moving the only "defensive defenseman" on our team.

McCabe is exactly what we need to bring to buffalo not trade away
