I know he can score. His game is just incredibly one dimensional, and that one dimension is inconsistent. Let me be clear. I'd rather he be on the ice over Sobotka. He just doesn't seem complete enough to consistently play here. I accept that he's here, I accept that the org wants him to learn here, I just wish they'd afford him to round out his game in Rochester. I suppose it's a moot point.

but that would require phil to put one of these in the presser, lockport larry, lazy pod racer, bust girgs, or billionaire okposo

doubt phil has the stones to do that

Yup. Good points. Hope they can move Sobotka. Imo he's worse than Gus and Lockport Larry
- Michael Pachla

who is worse, sobotka or okposo

and is girgens more valuable then sheary?

He was close twice in the second period when he had a point blank shot saved by Howard and another one where he fed Sobotka and the rebound was laying behind Howard, and he was a split second late to the other side of the net.

I get it, the dude is raw and mentally isn’t all there yet.

But it’s not like Grigorenko where he just doesn’t create any offense.

I think people would be mightily disappointed if Olofsson or Nylander were just put in the lineup with Sobotka

- sbroads24

Watching those attempts, sure he was close on a couple, but you have to think that as a goal scorer he could have made better decisions on passing and positioning. His best chance he drove past the net. I don't expect him to be Jeff Skinner, but Jeff Skinner is stopping in the goal mouth.

LL and All Star Locomotive serve their purpose on the 4th line. Grow some (frank)ing stones and bench Okposo or Sobotka.

I don’t think Sheary has a spot on an Playoff caliber roster. Isn’t skilled enough offensively to be in a top 6 role, isn’t good defensively or play with enough grit to play in the bottom 6. Girgensons can at least play PK and fill a valuable role on a 4th line.

Okposo (see Sheary discription above) and Sobotka (see Girgensons discription above). At least Okposo doesn’t look completely out of place in a bottom 6 role but he’s making 4M per year too much for his role. I’d love Sobotka 2M cheaper as well as a 4th Line C.

nice blog

I would put tage or smith on the top line, play the other with pommer and e-rod on the 3rd line

but that would require phil to put one of these in the presser, lockport larry, lazy pod racer, bust girgs, or billionaire okposo

I wish we had another option for 3C besides Sobotka
If we did... I’d see if E Rod can hang at RW1
He’s been playing well, and has history playing with Jack

Two things. Sobotka MIGHT be just useful enough, with a cheap/short enough contract, to move for an AHL asset or pick.

However

Phil stands up for him daily because he can sometimes win faceoffs, and we are short on that.

Figure out a way to trade for Luke Glendening or similar (better would be better) and you instantly make Sobotka obsolete.

Smith/Erod/Tage

I don’t get why they can’t do that. Sobotka is invincible apparently

He’s raw. But his issues will be either fixed here or he will flop.

For a good 15-20 games earlier this year he was one of our better forwards. He doesn’t need the A IMO

Don't have the metrics, but it seems to me his face off acumen is overrated. Especially in pressure situations

Erod's FO% is positive this year. He himself should make Sobotka obsolete.

U know how i feel about Sobotka

I think Phil is probably worried about 3 kids together being defensively responsible enough

Tage is kinda in no mans land right now
Doesn’t seem like they can find the right spot for him to settle in

I know you’re against it,
but maybe him playing top line minutes in Rochester would help his development more than being jerked around the bottom6 here

Sure but even if they swapped him for say Olofsson.

Does anyone really believe they will do any better with Sobotka or Larson etc?

Give it 5 games and people will want Olofsson swapped out for Nylander

That's not 100% true. E-rod did well in bottom six, as did pommer

I hope GMJB isn’t more concerned about winning a AHL championship, than helping the big club!

Olofsson is 23/24 yrs old (why wait) put him on the wing with 9 & 53.

We wouldn’t be swapping anyone though
Either Okposo/Sobotka wouldn’t play on line 3 and the other on line 4
If anything,
I’d just bring up Elie or Wilson to be the 13th forward & not play

Erod is a bottom 6 player. Pommer is a vet.

Do you really think Victor Olofsson is going to come in and score goals with Sobotka?

I know how you feel about Nylander, do you think he comes in and looks good in a bottom 6 role?
