I hope GMJB isn’t more concerned about winning a AHL championship, than helping the big club!

Olsosson is 23/24 yrs old (why wait) put him on the wing with 9 & 53.

He is when himself, his other GMs and Taylor don't think he's ready to start in the NHL. I know everyone wants to take Olofsson from a 2nd AHL line to putting him against the best competition in the world on and against the best lines... but he apparently is not ready to do that.

Sure but even if they swapped him for say Olofsson.

Does anyone really believe they will do any better with Sobotka or Larson etc?

Give it 5 games and people will want Olofsson swapped out for Nylander

- sbroads24

This is missing my point too
I’m talking about what’s best for Tage’s development more than i am what’s best for line3 or line4

Erod is a bottom 6 player. Pommer is a vet.

Do you really think Victor Olofsson is going to come in and score goals with Sobotka?

I know how you feel about Nylander, do you think he comes in and looks good in a bottom 6 role?

- sbroads24

The only way Nylander or Olofsson look good is on a 3rd line like you proposed earlier when you had Smith with Erod and Thompson.

We wouldn’t be swapping anyone though
Either Okposo/Sobotka wouldn’t play on line 3 and the other on line 4
If anything,
I’d just bring up Elie or Wilson to be the 13th forward & not play

- jdfitz77

And that’s fine but I’d rather them just put the young forwards in a place to at least have a chance at succeeding.

I can’t believe Smith sat (I can actually believe it) yesterday over Sobotka or even Girgensons. Smith has played well, and gets sat over Sobotka who hasn’t scored since the Clinton administration

Erod also spent plenty of time in Rochester. Lets not forget Smith was in a bottom-six role

I am starting to think he lied when he said if the kids worked hard they would get a serious look in the course of the season with the big club

with center woes, asplund should get a look as the third line center

with scoring woes, smith and olofsson should get a serious look in our top 9

you can make a case that o regan also deserves a look as a 3rd liner

I won't comment on the D, they called up tennyson instead of guhle or borgen, which made zero sense

better IMO then pommer

you could make a case that olofsson or smith would look better then sheary with casey and reinhart

a third line of e-rod, asplund and tage also makes sense

unless the goal is another lottery pick

Smith is the perfect mold of a 3rd-4th liner.

His two goals were a horrible goal on Blackwood from New Jersey and a tap in on a beautiful feed from Sam. I like Smith a lot but he won’t be scoring a ton of skilled goals, they will be from his forechecking and speed.

Thompson/Olofsson/Nylander need to be around other skilled players IMO.

If someone wants 22 for this 4th line to make a playoff push, Asplund can come up also.

I think we need to get one more "skilled" forward to alleviate the need for a 2C. We need a difference maker to either play with Casey on the second line, or to give Casey a chance to get different mintues in a middle-6 role.

Same with Dallas. They love ranch with everything. Even wings.

but then again smith gets a seat while a bum gets 3rd line ice time, despite scoring 2 goals in his last 3 nhl games

If smith can translate his AHL production to the big league I would rather move sheary down a line next year. Assuming skinner is re-signed.

I honestly think Casey is improving by the game.

By seasons end it won’t surprise me if we stop talking about the need for a 2C.

But I think a short term 2/3C wouldn’t hurt.

I’d try and land a super skilled winger

When the Sabres made the run with Miller, Vanek, Roy, Pommer and the rest of that team, it came off the heals of a very successful run in the AHL, Pittsburgh won their cups with the help of players who had success in the AHL, so it is not wrong to want the Americans to do well in the playoffs, It gives the players the taste of the playoffs that they so richly need. Playoff pressure is playoff pressure, I don't care where it happens. The Sabres just can't dump players we don't like, there are cap ramifications that have to be dealt with. If you don't like 17 or 6 or 21 or anybody what makes you think GMJB is going to be able to find somebody to take them of his hands. One by One these contracts will expire, or they will use the occasional buyout or bury them in the minors, ( Moulson's contract expires this year) the players that will replace them will come from Rochester and they will know what it takes to succeed.

i havent given up on tage yet

but 46 games into this season, if he is in fact much much better than Sobotka and Larsson, wouldnt it LOOK like he is much better than Sobotka and Larsson when is "saddled" with them

The handling of Pilut, Thompson, Smith, among others, shows that our asset management is favorable for "experience" rather than growth.

Playing Sobotka and Scandella every night is a slap in the face of the young players that provide offense in their respective roles.

Can Sheary play his off wing?

Keep Sam with Casey and see if you can get 53-9-43 rolling?

Put Thompson on the left with Casey and Sam.

What's the worst that could happen?
