Bingo

The frustration is that we ALL have seen him be every bit as impactful as any of the best players in the game. I said earlier this year that I thought he was the best goal-scorer in the league.

But this is more than a game or two now, and he isn't hitting 3 posts a night and taking care of business in his own end. He is playing exactly like the guy that the numbers describe.

I thought he started to break out of it a bit, but the last 2 nights were horrible.

It was telling no one cheered when he was introduced on ice before the game the very next day he signed the big contract.

People are sour he didn’t give any home town discount. If he signed for 8 years for the same money, or if signed for $10M at 5, I think people would be more patient.

- gamerdoc

Yup. He should've taken a discount like Marnwr and his Dad will in a few months.

Oh well, we can probably ship him out to another team and not regret doing it. If history has taught us anything, that would be the smart thing to do.

Matthews is always stuck with such terrible centres.
Patrick Marleau is useless. Absolutely useless.

Maybe he knocked up his girlfriend and is stressing hard about how to tell mom and dad? He’s young, he doesn’t wanna be weighed down with a child!! I feel for him, I’d have a hard time concentrating too if I had to hide the fact that I had impregnated my girlfriend

I agree that they are overachieving but they have they do have some talent. Put Gallagher and Weber on the Leafs and I think they are true contenders.

Domi and Drouin are OK pieces, probably not as good long term as they have been. Kotkaniemi looks like the real deal... reminds me a bit of Koivu.

- Aetherial

i don't think they're overachieving. i think there's just so much junk in the middle-20 of NHL teams and Montreal is just a few wins ahead of the curve. they had no one at the All-Star game, no one is putting up silly numbers or no one player is carrying them based on unsustainable numbers. they're just a solid team. would lose a series to the Leafs, no question, but i don't think overachievers.

Now is not the time for this. Come back tomorrow.

We're trying to run Matthews out of town tonight.

Wait, unless you want him. You got any Ontarians?

None of the millennials are giving any discount. I guess it’s that generation thing.

People look at Likes of Durant and Brady and hope their team does the same to keep the team. But nope.

Naw, you have to sign him to that. You can never trade away that talent and size at that age.

The guy has shown he can be 1/1A with McDavid in terms of his impact on the game.

That is what makes this frustating. I think he is injured, or he is pissed at Babcock. The Babcock theory was floated around the guys at TSN also.

Not a bad take.

The Atlantic is the strongest division this year (I think?) ... Only EK could have predicted that.
