new topic.

Man the Sens could get a major Haul of picks and prospects if they trade Stone, Duch, Zingel and Ceci (which they should)

over under is 4.5 first round picks.

one problem is they would still need to get to the cap floor next season..but just sign 1 year deals and avoid longer term signings

But stone is so good, he should get a massive return

One of these things is not like the others.

Why in God's name would they do that?

. . . we didn't start the fire
But we're not returning
'cos the tires are burning . . .

Trading away these good players for mid-first picks help to stock the cupboard with some 2nd / 3rd line guys, but they need to raze it to the ground for a couple of years to rebuild the high-end talent.

Well at least with a last place finish they can start building quickly around Hug.....

oh...

Oh right....

Right? Given what Dorion has managed to do in Ottawa, and keep a job - Chiarelli thinks there's still hope for him.

Yes poor results.
You mean the 3 seasons of 20 plus goals, two of which were 30 plus. Finishing with 46 - 60pts each of the past 3 seasons. Tied a career high in points and had his 3rd highest point total in 16/17.
Poor results indeed. Most players would love to have those poor results.
Hes had a down year this year, but its not over.

This is the problem though.

Philly will want to sell him at the price of his last 3 seasons.

They rent him for this playoffs. I wouldn’t want to spend the price hoping he plays like he did a few years ago. Players decline.

I’m on the Ferland train...but also would like a look at Zuccurello.

I have a feeling Dubas be willing to part with Brown instead of a pick given they may have to trade him anyways in the off-season.

Will some teams prefer a guarantee in Brown over a pick? He is an RFA once his contract is over.

I don't put all my faith in Point Shares (see: Ron Hainsey), but generally they are a good indicator of a player's overall value and performance. Especially when taken as a trend.

Take the Point Shares, and average them out to an 82 game projection, and he's on a 3 year decline. There's no guarantee that a change of scenery wouldn't change that as environment is obviously a factor, but really . . . I don't know if I'd put my trust in this guy:

Simmonds:

Season Age PS
2013-14 25 7.5
2014-15 26 6.9
2015-16 27 7.7
2016-17 28 6.3
2017-18 29 4.4
2018-19 30 3.4

For comparison, this year, Marleau is a 3.1, Ozhiganov is a 3.3, and Kadri is a 4.6.

Connor Brown is @ 2.2, so you'd likely get a marginal upgrade on Brown.

Yep, I mean anyone would take the upgrade for a 2nd but his price will likely be too much.

Put your focus on some other guys that may come a little cheaper.

I agree, I posted about his play when his contract was signed.

Too many fly bys in each end of the ice and does not work hard enough every shift. He has been giving up on plays at an alarming rate with the exception of a few shifts.

Meh. Nate Thompson is just another Lindholm.

Maybe he’s a good guy to have around...I’m not really sure but as far as his play he’s a replacement level player.
