I sure wouldn't give up our 1st RP for Silfverberg. No way. Could Perry re survive his career in Pittsburgh? I've always found him a pain in the ass to play against. I'd take his contract if Anaheim retained around 40% of his contract and if Hörnqvist went the other way.

A) Anaheim probably won’t trade Perry. B) If they did itd be for futures because they’ve decided to rebuild, not 30 year old Hornqvidt. C) They’re not going to retain ~3.3 mil of a contract with multiple years of term unless it’s for a really good deal.

Perry is 33 and hasn't put up 20+ goals in in three years and makes $8.25M

Hornqvist is 32 and hit 29 goals last year and makes $5.3M.

You want to trade a player who's still consistent for a player who's on his obvious decline? Then, you want to get someone to retain enough money so you're basically paying him to do less than the guy you shipped out to get him?

What are you guys smoking?

Perry’s even strength production rate per 60 has been on par or better than Hornqvist in recent years besides this year where Perry has only played five games.

Granted, I don’t want to trade for Perry. I’m not interested in another over 30 player that makes north of 8 million a year. But Perry is still probably the better player.

The difference is Perry has been on a decline. Hornqvist has not.

Look man I’m not arguing that I’d rather have Perry. Im just nitpicking your argument about goal totals because I have nothing better to do right now haha.

This. Why the hell do people even mention moving Horny? He’s a warhorse.

I can't lie, I definitely go back and forth on Horny. I'm not necessarily against most players getting traded as long as it makes sense. Right now trading him doesn't make sense, but if he were to be traded, trading him for Perry certainly doesn't make sense.

I love Hornquist and think someone would have to massively overpay to get him. I also love Perry but he has taken a step back and is heavily overpaid at this point.

If I'm trading with Anaheim I'd do Kessel and Johnson for Fowler and Perry ($2M retained) or something based around that. Would also need to move Pearson or to make it happen. You are basically gambling that Perry can get near where he used to be.

I keep winning, but that last win only bumped me from 159 to 149. I’m not sure I make it even if I win this week.

You climb higher?

Perry isn’t even that good. I don’t see Perry as a huge upgrade to Phil, if an upgrade at all to be honest.
