Was anyone else aware of the period trick? (let's go boys, put that joke right on the tee for you)

For big college papers I'd do a search-and-replace for all the periods in my paper and change them to like a size 18 font. The actual change was barely noticeable to the eye but the "spacing" around the period would add literal pages to your paper if it was long enough. For a 10 page paper you'd end up actually having to write only like 7-8 pages.

Yeah it's pretty rare anyone gets a dime from me. One guy out in LA did because he was sitting on the strand in Venice Beach with a pilot hat on and a sign that said "Private jet out of gas, need money for jet fuel". I think I gave him $20

Otherwise, I've started just waving my hand and saying "No thanks, I'm not interested" like they're trying to sell me something

There's a guy who frequents the intersection by our local Walmart. Every time I drive by I think, "(frank), the guy has nicer clothes and shoes than I do!"
Next time he approaches me, I think I'll ask if he can spare a couple bucks!!!
