IF we make the playoffs, IF, it would be great to face the Preds in round 1 and bounce them out of the playoffs.

Breadman, any thoughts about the result of the upcoming game against the Bruins?

I'll go out on the limb and predict the Hawks 4-3 in a shootout.

Do the Hogs play man to man defense also?
- LAHawk

From what I've observed, they play zone. Guys stick to certain areas and don't stray too far to chase the puck if it goes out of their jurisdiction. Defensemen don't seem to jump in the play as much but do so when a scoring chance arises. No riverboat gamblers either like Gustafsson.

Hindsight is 20/20. If Weise and Flieschman work out and the Hawks win that year then the Danault trade doesn't look so bad. Vinny and Hartman are not great losses and the return for them has been fine. The TT deal in order to get rid of Bickells contract was bad, but he may have wound up being a cap casualty anyway.
- TheTrob

Didn’t need hindsight on that one. There were many, including myself, that didn’t like that trade at the time, and hate it even more now. Traded a solid C prospect for a has been and a never was.

Go for Andre Burakosky, he played on the Otters w/Strome and alsoplayed in Sweden so JC might know him. Forsling/Fortin should be more
than enuf

- gazza53

He's a guy who I think would be a great buy low candidate. Having a below average year, and hasn't he had a hard time cracking the top 6 in WSH?

He would be a realistic acquisition for the top 6 without breaking the bank on the Stones and Panarins of the world.

And both not ideally suited for permanent 1st line duty, but talented enough to play up when needed.
- Ogilthorpe2

Sounds like Barratt and possibly even Entwistle. Both are bottom 6 mostly who can play top 6 effectively if needed. Just not long term.

I think a close game too, will definitely want payback from the W.C. I think we see an 8 game streak.

I did, you also reinforced what I was trying to say, we already have a big slow 2nd line center in Strome, why I said Hayes would be a third liner here.

Fleischmann played for Q in Colorado, Q "trusted" him, Danault wouldn't of sniffed the ice in the playoffs.

No, but he’d be a mainstay in the lineup now, and it didn’t take a genius to know that Fleischmann was done. Stan trusted Q...he shouldn’t have.

In 2016, Q complained about lack of depth in the bottom 6. So Stan goes out and tries to fix it. One of the worst coaching jobs in how Q handled that and the playoffs against the Blues. BRUTAL!!!

Danault has been centering Montreal's top line for almost 2 full seasons now. He is rated the 38th best Center in the NHL by Corsica Hockey per DailyFaceoff.com

It's mind boggling they traded for depth forwards when they only had 4 NHL defenseman on the roster......what a wasted opportunity with Hoss Boss

Justin any whispers of hawks involved in trade talks and with what teams plus any other news with other teams that might have a impact on the hawks?

There's also the two 2nds for Kimmo, a 2nd for Rundblad, a 3rd for Carolina's 5th (versteeg trade), the Ladd trade included a 3rd, Danault and a 2nd for Weise and Fleischmann, a 3rd for Jurco.

The Vermette trade was warranted, and you could argue the Ladd trade was as well.

But my point is, not being able to restock the team through our own system has lead to the last two year's of trouble. While other teams have been developing their prospects, we've been pushing ours into the market or trading away the pick to win now. It was worth it for 2013 and 2015, but we're feeling it now. Yoget back into the mix with top draft talent.

Bowman also left Rockford bereft of any descent anything close to an offensive center for Rockford for at least a couple of years.

Hindsight had nothing to do with Danault trade being bad. Condiments was a PTO player that season and Weise was never going to get the usage to be productive. Doesn't matter now but Danault would be nice to have on this team.

Vinny and Hartman were used to highlight draft choices that are playing in the NHL from that period.

Encouraged by the interview....by not denying the Keith/Seabrook rumors, that is almost the same as confirming them...right?? Seems as though he's still in potential sell mode depending on the next 2 weeks of play.
- EnzoD

I doubt it was a rumor regarding Keith and Seabrook. I think the timeline may have been off and they were asked earlier.

I'd be beyond disappointed if we bought anything at the deadline. Our draft picks are the thing that got us into this mess (trading them away), and they will get us back into contention (top picks made recently and ones to come).

If we trade a 1st round pick, I'm boycotting the rest of the season.

Could we just hang a "Trade Bowman" from the rafters?

It will be interesting to follow, they couldn't handle Stl twice over the weekend. I don't see their place changing though.

Supposedly they are going to go all in for Duchene and Stone.
