DOPS and consistency are two terms that don't mesh !!
I don't know why NHL wastes money on it - same thing with the Toronto review booth black hole.
There is no consistency with either unit. Neither one appears to have a protocol to follow in their decision making.
DOPS is especially frustrating as it appears that their rulings depend on who the assailant is, as well as who the victim is. Past history does not necessarily come into play (especially if the assailant plays in Boston).
With the review booth - one time it's "goalie interference", the next time it's "incidental contact". Again, depends on the team and player as to the ruling
Arbitrary rulings are the order of the day from both units. Why bother . . . ???
I’m fine with Gabriel getting a game and was expecting it to be a couple more. Surprised Patrick doesn’t even get a review for a retaliatory head shot. It just all seems so inconsistent.
