I’ll always support a college free agent signing. Basically, the equivalent of a mid round draft pick, but for “free”.
You do of course have to keep expectations low. I don’t think there has been a quality college free agent signing who wasn’t drafted sinc Tyler Bozak?
I wonder how and/or why all these college kids end up choosing Ottawa to sign with? Especially with the rest of the league (allegedly) knocking on their doors too.

They have a shot at making the team with an organization that's building instead of one that's a contender. |

I'd say Troy Stecher is up there, he's decent, but not amazing. And lots of players sign with Ottawa when they see opportunity, which they have right now in terms of roster spots

Good write up and thanks for the insight on him. In his case, signing with Ottawa seemed obvious considering it is where he was born and raised.
A few other collegiate free agent signings that did work out include Dan Boyle, Ed Belfour (only one year of college), Martin St. Louis, and Adam Oates. The St. Louis story hurts since Ottawa was the only team interested in him coming out of college. They signed him to a tryout contract but later released him. |

Torey Krug was a College FA when the Bruins grabbed him... turned out to be quite the grab |

With Chabot likely out for the remainder of the season, might as well give him a look. |

would honestly rather leave him in Belleville for their playoff run.......no sense in burning a year off his ELC for a lost cause season |
