So... RIP Trouba, RIP Gibson. Is basically the tale of the game.

Wpg D lineup draft selection pos'ns:

Trouba Rd 1, Morrow Rd 1
Kulikov Rd 1, Myers Rd 1
Chairot Rd 4, Niku Rd 7

Beaulieu Rd 1 if he hadn't got hurt
Morrisey R1
Buff, lol, Rd 8

Not bad defensive depth, 6 first rounders with the outliers of Buff and Niku and Chairot as the only mid rounder.

Putting Morrow with Trouba is a test for Trouba in the same way chugging a bottle of hot sauce is a test for your stomach: it’s undoubtedly painful, incredibly hard on your body, and is hilarious to watch for a few minutes until you just feel kinda sad and wish it would be over. It also ultimately doesn’t have an effect outside the short term.

In other words where's Morrissey to bail out the "elite defenseman" you call Trouba.

This should be an interesting pairing tonite, lol. I am even staying up late.

I guess if you are going to have a sh!tload of defensive depth going into the playoffs, it could be worse. They are starting 4 1st rounders tonite in top 4. Could be an adventure but might also be enough to limp through till Morrisey is ready.

Think of it like this: Trouba is way further up on the “good scale” than Morrow is on the “bad” scale. Subtracting Morrow’s bad off Trouba’s good makes not a first pairing being played as a first pairing

The whole team was bad yet won 3-0. Basically thinking about Vegas and they got away with it because the Ducks are really bad.

Take it and run because that was one of the two games in hand the Jets will make up on the Preds. Both play tonight so a win against Vegas, however difficult will help for sure.

The whole team? Our goalie who you consistently point out can not play a game without allowing three goals had a shut out.
But that’s ok PETE, you also always point out you are not a cheerleader. You don’t admit it but you prefer to write the negative and that’s ok, I’ll still read and comment. I would never expect you to pat Helly on the back. It’s all good.

Yes, agreed. This game was certainly not the blueprint the Jets want to use going forward. Pretty awful actually against a really bad team. I think the Jets may have spent too much time on the beach on their day off . Still, we did win 3-0.

The only Jets that were good were Connor, Roslovic, Niku, Myers, Copp, and of course Helle. The Jets fourth line looked OK. Otherwise, some pretty terrible play which was led by our poster boy for bad plays in Patrik Laine. He was horrific last night. I truly don't know where he truly fits in this lineup because he drags every line he plays on into the toilet. Trouba / Morrow pairing was very shaky.

I also got a laugh five minutes into the game when Belak said that Chiarot has become the mentor/teacher for Sami Niku. Chiarot has played a lot better this season but I certainly hope he is not the one mentoring one of our future stars.

I didn't hate the Jets play as much as others posting. Anaheim has been better recently and playing spoiler well, give them a little credit.

Jets were outworked for too much of the game, especially in the second. That said the defensive structure did not allow many grade 'A' chances. Gaps were good, no 2 on 1's with runway, sticks in lanes, no easy access to the net. Gibson had more big saves to make than Helly. It looked like a typical trap game that lacked inspiration but good teams find ways to win. The Ducks got better after the Perry/Morrow scrap.

I liked Niku, Connor, Roslovic and Little. Laine had a rough first half but seemed to battle better than other times when off his game.

The PP was sloppy, Trouba was not the problem. Ducks PK collapses and takes away the middle of the ice so well, there were no seams. Faster movement on the perimeter was needed, there was too much delay on the half wall with Wheeler. 2nd PP unit was a no-show.

Not a problem. Chiarot can mentor the simple plays that Niku has likely not had to use in his career when playing different levels of hockey - his skill has always won the day in other leagues. Chiarot won't be mentoring Niku on high skill plays but has on-ice mentoring/teaching to give regarding sound positioning and simple effective hockey plays.

Hey! Don't give credit to Tessier, that's me who keeps pointing out Hellebuyck is giving up all those goals.
Of note Hellebuyck finally went consecutive starts giving up 2 or less goals. That's the first time since December, hopefully he keeps it up.

How about that guy who sang the Anthems. One of the better ones I've heard although there was some echo/delay in the mic/arena. . The guy has one heckuva voice. I watch a few LAK games and they get some pretty good singers coming through there.

The sound system ruined a good performance.

I agree with your other post but not with this one.
.
He might have a good voice but I couldn’t tell as the feedback echo thing was horrible.

Worst anthem I have heard all year. I feel sorry saying that but I thought it was terrible.

I didn't hear anything but the echo. It likely sounded fine in the arena but live sound broadcasting issues ruined it.

Petan signed an extension today . Two years at $1.55 MM. I'm not sure how much playing time he will get but at least that will help the kid be more financially secure going forward.

Marleau, Brown, and likely Ennis will all be gone. That’s looking at it concervatively, too. With the roster changes, and Babcock likely on a shorter leash, Petan will play.

I'm not sure what the track record is for teams going into Vegas on a back--to- back night but I'd bet it's not good. Jets also played some " heavy" teams in the previous day. Add that to the fact that the T- Mobile arena is a very tough place to play in with all the distractions of playing music and stuff while the play is going on. Missing Buff and Morrissey are probably our two best defensmen to fend off Vegas's really quick transition game. This will be a tough one to win for the Jets so my expectations are low
