I hate Ladd just as much as anyone else but the team as a whole is just as responsible as he is imo. When Trotz says he was happy when Hickey “finally got involved” I think that’s pretty telling. Ladd wasn’t the only guy out there when Mayfield got hit. They all stared at each other and did nothing.

I agree. However, Ladd got his big, fat contract, because he was supposed to be "hard to play against." He was the guy who could do it all. He was supposed to bring grit to a team full of pussies. He would even drop the gloves when necessary.

So I have less of an issue with some of the guys who are supposed to be goal scorers or playmakers when they didn't go after Shaw. Some of them just can't fight worth a damn, and would risk injury dropping the gloves.
