I think more the issue was the amount of Cap Leafs have allocated to the forwards is not in sync with the backend. You still have Marner, Kappanen & Johhnson to resign & your GM seems to like to pay RFA's like they are UFA's. Young Dmen take longer to get established in the NHL as well, so good performance in the AHL doesnt necessarily translate to rock stars in the NHL. Do you really think you will replace a 65+ game starter for 5.0 mill in two years?

Toronto has Reilly, Dermott and Muzzin beyond this season and are developing good young D in the AHL, but yeah Eugene...good move. Alienate the team and the fanbase without which your team would have relocated a decade ago. How do you suppose the Senators would survive without Maple Leaf driven TV rights, escrow payments and a travelling fanbase filling your building with jacked up ticket prices???Ungrateful much?
