Unfortunately, none of the current Ducks on the roster give a flying f@$% about Jack Hughes or anyone else in the draft. They are playing for their jobs next year and Anaheim is looking at a glut of wingers. Perry, Rackell, Silfverberg, Kase, Sprong, Ritchie, Jones, Terry, Comtois, not to mention guys in San Diego who deserve a shot such as Roy and Kossila. That's 11 guys for 8 spots and I didn't include Shore in there because he can play center, too. Murray is going to have 2 first round picks and a lot of assets to deal with on draft day, who's to say he can't move his way up without having to tank?

The teams below the Ducks points wise (Ottawa, LA, NJ, Det) will not surpass them. Possible Ducks pass a couple of teams. We've been sitting in 5th position for a few weeks now.

Add Max Comtois to the list of kids joining the big club next year.

Move up or make a deal for say breadman or some other established high end wing .. lots of options with all the kids and 2 1sts.

I am interested to know if Murray sees Comtois as a C going forward or not. I believe he’s flexible at this point but that tends to change as things go along.

There’s also a glut of high-end centers in this draft which behooves the Ducks. I’d be happy with Hughes, Cozens, Turcotte, or Zegras with that first pick. I’d also love to see hometown boy Cam York get picked up with that second first rounder we have, but I know it’s unlikely.

The combo of Hughes and York would be my dream - plus Murray has a tendency to take friends so it could happen in a perfect world.

I will never hope for the Ducks to lose. Here's the thing, it's a lottery, even if they finish dead last, there are good odds they don't get the first pick. Didn't Colorado finish last in the league and pick fourth a few years ago? No thank you. I'd rather they play well down the stretch. All that being said, while I won't ever cheer for them to lose, I'm not as upset about losing a game as I usually would be.

I'm not up on the draft as some others.
What's the story on Zegras and Turcotte along with Cozens.

The thing is we were just mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. So to say we should tank really should be so taboo anymore. I like Hugh's, kakko, cousins, Darby. The Russian is a little suspect do to the fact that he's Russian. But if we slip past 5 I wouldn't be aginst taking him.
And there are 7 games left. I'm really hoping that we don't fall any farther than 5. We are currently 5 points up on the red wings. So to make that up to get to the 4th spot we'd have to lose all our games and the redwings would have to win six games in regulation. Not to put them down but that's a long shot for Detroit.
But the last thing is who is Bob gonna draft. And also I have heard much about the pick we got from buffalo. Nobody in the ducks organization gas confirmed that its top 20 protected. Right now the blues are 19. That would mean we would get San Jose's pic at 28. And that would be a big hit.
I really hope Bob is considering sitting some players. Maybe Gibby could use some more time to rest up.(hint,hint). But we could only hope. Right

Nope, the Ducks win out and that's 83 points. Dallas has 82 points. It's mathematically possible to still get in. It's not going to happen but...

What's the story on Zegras and Turcotte along with Cozens.

The first two are basically behind Jack Hughes in the depth chart of the USNTDP and still getting some renown for their play. They’re not as big as Cozens, who has coincidentally being compared to Getzlaf due to his size and average-to-below-average speed.
Turcotte is supposed to be a bit more of a playmaker I believe than Zegras who’s supposed to be more of a 200-ft guy.
Not an expert, but that’s what my research has gathered

Alright. Almost mathematically eliminated. Still great game last night aginst the sharks. Even though I love a good game that puts us sixth or maybe even seventh. The thing that makes me worry about this is that the person who should care is Bob. It's his job to secure the future of this team. And he has total control to make it happen. And we really shouldn't expect the players to tank. But Bob's a totally different story. He can throw a monkey wrench in this thing and get us the pick we need.

And you know the scary part. Bob Murray knows all of this. And he dosen't care. Which means he's either off his rocker or he got a plan. I have a bad feeling that maybe he thinks he's found a prospect that he thinks is a dimond in the rough. Someone that he thinks will be there no matter where he drafts. And I really hope he dosen't go that far off the draft board. Because reaching that far usually means bad things. Very rarely do you find that one prospect that turns out great that no other team can see.

9 out of 10 times BM goes for the safe pick. That is what frustrates a lot of fans .. he won’t go for the outlier / I think it’s safe to expect a solid choice from recommendation of a very solid scouting staff.

Yep. That is true. But Ritchie was the last top 10 pick. And he's been developing slowly. I mean the ducks front office tends to get fixated on certain types of players. Like puck moving dmen. Or big physical fowards. It's both helped and hurt them at times. I just really want to see the ducks maximize the potential of this draft. I mean who knows when's the next time we will get to pick top 5.
