IMO Chucky and Keller need to play on the same line. Feed them O-zone starts and see if they can collapse on a turnover, which is really their specialty. Aside from that? Let all your other lines grind it out with the exception of Vinnie who’s been dictating play in a Patrick Kane-like manner

Sure thing except I can’t really be a homer since I’m not from here sooooo... Go Pens? Lol

As a fan I’m extremely critical of the players. For example, Chychrun has been absolutely brutal lately. Not only does he look expendable but he shouldn’t even by drawing into the lineup at this point until he figures it out. On the other hand, for a team that has really been lacking an offensive presence Vinnie has been fantastic with the puck. He’s got good hands, good puck management, and he makes those around him better. The way he attacks he attacks defenders and then cuts back to give himself time and space is exactly the kind of open ice style that Kane plays. I’m not saying that Vinnie is at the same level as Kane and if you read that well then you really can’t read very well. I mean, Kuemper plays similarly to Vasilevski but that doesn’t make them equals. Keller tries to emulate Kane’s style but they’re not all that close. Keller is an absolute perimeter player. Vinnie slashes in much more like how Kane does

I've watched way to much of Vinny from ND,Chicago and now Phoenix and the only comparison to Kane is that they both wore Blackhawk sweaters.

Hey good for you, I’m so happy that you have eyes and time to watch things but players can evolve their games over time. Mike Green wasn’t an offensive dynamo before he hit the NHL, then he was, and no he’s not. Vinnie had an absolutely terrible start to the season. Now he’s driving play on a bad team

Side note: people say they know something but they’ve watched it a bunch is like saying that just because someone has done something for a long time that it makes them good at it. It doesn’t

Unfortunately the odds of them getting in now are pretty slim. They had easier schedules than the other teams they’re competing against and they really laid an egg on this road trip. Forget the scores, they look like a team lacking confidence. There’s absolutely no support on the forecheck and a lot of low quality shots from the outside. I was just talking to my buddy who’s an NHL goalie, his prediction earlier this week was that CO rolls over everybody and possibly upsets Calgary in the first round. Not an outlandish prediction by any means

as an avalanche fan, i’d love for your friends’ prediction to be accurate. they’re currently up 2-1 going into the third; if they can pull out the win - with both dallas and minnesota having tough matchups - the night could potentially end with the avs only being 2 points out of the #7 seed.

certainly possible for them to end up higher than 8, though i think the third divisional spot is out of reach (st. louis playing too well to lose it).

tough loss for the yotes today. i’d like to see them in the postseason much more so than minny or the stars, but not looking great for them.

A handful of times would be 5. I can guarantee you that I’ve seen Vinnie well over 50 times. How many handfuls would that be? I also never said he was going to be Kane, the only thing I said was that recently he’s been dictating play in a Kane like manner. Obviously he doesn’t have nearly the same QoT but he’s certainly driving play and his ability to advance zones is certainly Kane-like both in consistency and by his way of doing it

To me, talking hockey with random people isn’t ideal because most hockey fans (just like fans of most sports) don’t understand the systems. For example, I played juniors and college winning two championships (toot tooooot) whereas my roommate is from Chicago, loves the game, has never played, DOESNT KNOW ANY SYSTEMS but will go on and say X player is playing good or bad with zero context

Of course... duh! And yes, it IS imperative that you understand the system being played in order to know what's going on. Plus, as a member of a hockey blog, it's always important to let people in that blog know that you've won championships at the collegiate and junior level so that you can establish credibility in making such claims!
