Carol Schram: Canucks' winning streak snapped in Sat loss to Flames, CBJ on tap Sunday The Vancouver Canucks' lost in regulation for the first time in six games when they went down 3-1 to the Calgary Flames on Saturday at Rogers Arena. They'll get right back to work on Sunday as John Tortorella tries to light a spark under his increasingly desperate Columbus Blue Jackets.

Thanks Carol!

That's crazy Johnsson is second in rookie scoring. I'd love to see he or Kapanen get targeted by JB. That and Trouba would be a grand slam of an offseason. I'm pretty onboard with most people's opinion of JB via trading and signing, I think we can give hime one maybe two more drafts, because he is very good at that, or just hire a president that can handle that level of operations. Aqua need to add to the front office IMO, not necessarily take away. JB clearly has a skillset, just needs someone with experience in the sign/trade world to back him up or oversee.

Thank you Carol!

3-2 loss tonight, get the tank rolling. Bo and Leivo with the goals, Petey two apples.

I am going to quote a post from another fansite that really nailed it on the head for me in terms of expectations from the Nucks. I could not have said it any better

"I liked this game. As an echo to our guys in the rink, I was emotionally invested. Calgary is the better team, but our guys didn’t back away, and THATS what I want to see in these rebuilding seasons, not a revolving door of flippant hot doggers and guys doing by themselves and playing for themselves. I want to buy into a team, and a team plays for each other and I think they did that tonight. I am at peace with this loss. "

Agreed! I saw that team dynamic in play on Saturday as well. With plenty of roster upheaval again this year, the group seems to be gelling and playing for each other now. Hopefully that can carry over to next season.

Panarin is hard to read.
Is it lifestyle or a cup run he prefers most?
Russians i find are either very good or struggle fitting in. He is in the former.
Signing here isn’t so farfetched maybe.
Make him an offer at how much?
Sure would be a key core piece if we got him. If not then explore Trouba.

I wonder how much Weisbrod inputs on any trade or UFA signing as the AGM?
JB doesn’t do it all alone & did he sign him as his AGM or was it TL?

Next draft is pivotal to a degree in whether we add a F or a D dependent on where we pick or who slides. The UFA season follows to add which we don’t get in the draft. Too bad it’s not reversed. That said what plan of attack should we take on a key UFA or 2 if the interest incoming here is high?

Given JB said no big UFA signing is in the cards it doesn’t mean kicking tires won’t happen. I’m thinking FA has him under a leash & a close eye on whether he lasts long & if not the next GM will have more cap & options open to him. Flip side is contracts out before a big signing can be considered. Sutter? LE? Etc. A legit scoring winger as Lefty says is probably our 1st priority. A skating/scoring RHD is gold but most difficult to acquire. Soderstrom & Seider top the next draft as RHD & a reach given where where we probably will be picking. A trade down package might be a good thing given who & what is involved. Buffalo looks like a possible trade partner if a vet D goes there way. Any other teams stand out for us? Best hopes is we just add another 1st somehow.

Lol at whoever it was in the last thread, who figures Hughes is comparable to one of the all time great defenders, Lidstrom.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the Canucks won tonight and Torts is fired as a result.

I missed the 1st period, what I saw was good especially the 3rd. Flames wont get through round 2 unless there bottom 6 lights it up, johnny and Monahan disappeared in this game.

If (and it's a big if that exists only in my fantasy brain) JB was able to make some trades in the offseason, what do ppl think we could reasonably expect for the following:

Tanev
Sutter
Sven
Goldobin (RFA)
