No way you go long term on Buch. Playing good in the last few weeks of a doomed season, while encouraging, is not long term contract material. Let him get the bridge and prove he can do it over the next 2 seasons |

I think we would generally favor a bridge deal. However, Buch has incrementally improved each season in the league. If it was team friendly, I would sign him for 5 or 6 years. |

Dante Fabbro has decided forego his senior season with Boston University and sign an entry-level contract with #preds. Big news for Nashville as their 2016 first-rounder could have become a UFA in August 2020 if he played another year at BU. |

I guess seeing most of the talent on your team walk away plus the allure of getting paid a lot of money to play the game instead of playing for free is enough for most of these guys to call it a college career and move on. I sure would. |

I would too. But Idk if I've ever seen 4 of college team's best players walk on the same day. |

Especially for a guy like Fabbro who could have been a UFA in a year. Something must have happened that we don't know about. |

Why did something have to happen? He's a young guy that probably wants to start making money to play. The fact that the core of his team also signed probably didn't exactly deter him from leaving. BU is probably a long-shot to be competitive next year, even with a solid incoming recruiting class, so he figured it was time to get his pro career started. |

In a vacuum you are right, these guys might just want to get paid. It just seemed odd so many from the same team declare pro on the same day.
As an aside, if I was Fabbro's position, I'd always take the extra year and become a UFA, even if I thought I was signing with my drafting team. It's always better for a player to have more leverage. I'm actually not sure why a great majority of college players don't wait out the UFA time. You can pick who you sign for, and if you are a bust at least you can have a degree to fall back on. |

A lot can happen in a year. He could get hurt playing NCAA next season, Nashville could, organizationally-speaking, make a move that adds someone that makes them no longer interested in signing him, there could be less of a market for him than expected if he has a down year and he might be forced to sign somewhere he doesn't really want to go....who knows.
Betting on yourself and going to market is fine, but it comes with a lot more risk than just signing where you were drafted and getting in the system ASAP. If he wants to play in Nashville it's better he just gets his career going and, hopefully for him, gets to his next contract quicker. |

Bridge deal for Buch, he hasn't shown enough consistency to warrant a long term contract.
Who here expected to see Lemiux on the top line when we acquired him? |

Plus he could finish college later.
I think they will be safe from the expansion draft too if they're in the AHL. |

It wouldn't be under scholarship though. If you are a tip top player, I understand getting paid since it's good money and as long as you aren't a total bust, will likely get a decent bridge deal even if you aren't great. For a middling guy though, get the leverage. I understand the injury factor, but this isn't like the NBA where a rookie gets 10 million out of the gate. Get your 800k or whatever your max ELC is with whatever team you want instead of being stuck in a non desirable situation. It's why us Ranger fans are counting down the days until we can sign Fox to help our blue line LOL |

No, but the hope is that you make enough in the NHL to be able to afford the last year. |

That's third liner at best Lemieux lol
I think we all know that it is due to lack of depth and injuries, but with the success Tom Wilson has had on the first line in Washington, maybe the Rangers eventually try to copycat that. All sports are copycat leagues, maybe some teams try it. |

Can the Rangers copycat playing him with Ovechkin and Backstrom?
My take:
No

You don't think Mika and Kravs does the trick?
- 2sticks1puck
No because in that scenario the Swede is the shooter and the Russian is the passer. Would never work. BUST. |
