Anderssen with a 6-1 record against the isles would have to give them the advantage in that category?

Yeah, I noticed that, too, but wasn't going to say anything.

We are still one point away from getting there, and I swear to Gilmour, I'm not sure when that's coming.

And just because I feel that I should engage in some trash talk in the Islanders' thread on game day, here's a fun little fact for you:

When the draft environmental impact statement was drawn up for the Islanders' new arena at Belmont, they were working on the assumption that there would be 11,700 attendees per game.

https://libn.com/2019/03/...-look-at-belmont-project/

Ouch.

I also like the bit about how they said that people could arrive and depart the facility by subway - even though there isn't a subway that goes out there.

Take that with a large grain of salt. LIBN has been staunchly opposed to this project from the day it was announced. I suspect someone referred to the LI Railroad as the "subway" mistakenly, because there is most certainly a LIRR stop at Belmont...albeit one that only runs on the day of the Stakes and needs significant upgrades to handle regular volume.

The geniuses over at Nassau County, which is in a comical amount of debt, have already came out and said they'd opt-out of NYS legalizing marijuana for recreational use because, hey, why would a county run by a long line of corrupt (the last dipshit County Exec before Curran was just convicted on bribery charges along with his wife) morons want the immense tax revenue that comes with the legalization of pot? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Figured the idea of looking at how individual players perform vs the opponent and which players have overperformed/underperformed recently was a bit unique- you can find lineups/stories going into the game through basically any mainstream media. Thought it would be cool to do stuff like this for each game.

Has it already gotten stale?

Figured his save percentage (.903 vs NYI compared to his career .918) versus Lehner's .921 (compared to career .917) was maybe a more accurate way to go... said more about Andersen's performance vs New York than the wins, though his record is impressive. Also this part wasn't included but Andersen's play as of late definitely doesn't give the Leafs any advantage.

Got me there. Had somebody tweet at me saying they liked the structure of the game previews, which was cool, so I kept the structure the same.

If that's the case though, I'll switch it up a bit going forward.

Those upgrades may not be possible:

Or at least cost $300M.

I'm guessing that at the end of the day, it will just be game-day train shuttle service on the Belmont Spur (but admittedly, I'm guessing based upon a limited number of articles I've read).

Thank goodness someone is thinking of the children.

I don't know about you, but there's no way in hell I want my kids having to look at cannabis shops (from the outside, as they won't be allowed in).

I'd prefer they spend their time in local parks and playgrounds, where I am almost positive there are no dealers peddling weed.

OK, maybe only about 75% positive.

OK, maybe less than that...

I think judging a goalie on his last 10 games is a better indicator than looking at his lifetime record vs. opponent. I mean, how relevant is it if Andersen had a shutout or blowout against the 2013-14 Islanders - when he was playing for the Ducks?

And in case you were wondering, Andersen has been poop the last 10 games.

Chiefs, for some reason I can’t quote you, the LIRR runs trains to and from Belmont on Fridays too. It’s still woefully underprepared for anything like a professional hockey game though.

Nassau County is an absolute sewer. In the interest of fairness, Suffolk has also announced they'd be likely to opt-out if it's legalized.

I understand the logic though, I mean these are businesses that are selling drugs, in large quantities, that have been proven to seriously impair driving and are dangerous and habit-forming. Sometimes even underage kids are being sold to.

...wait. Bars. I'm being told those are called bars.

Ultimately this is a private project on state land and Governor Asswad himself was directly involved with this so, even if it's ultimately a detriment to the local communities, I can't imagine that this doesn't get pushed through.

Isles are ripe for the picking. Playing a good, but struggling, opponent coming off another loss to a basement-dweller rival and the Isles were just on cloud-nine after the last game. This has major letdown written all over it for us.

The location is a cluster(frank) for sure. The traffic there is already horrendous as it is and the LIRR, as presently structured, can in no way handle the crowds that would come in. The infrastructure at the station is old as (frank) and everything there, platforms included, are crumbling.

Let’s not even mention the fact, the way the tracks are formatted and how the signals would have to be used, the train has to bypass the station to the east, clear that signal, and then go back west. Shuttle trains might be their only option, especially at first.

Fair point, either way, Andersen isn't giving the Leafs any sort of advantage right now.

I broke my own rule, no politics in the thread.

I will now eviscerate myself since I have dishonored my family
