How is Capuano's name not there with Boughner's?
Cap was in charge of the pitiful D (unless he really wasn't), the defensive structure that set a record for most goals allowed in a Panthers season. Ay caramba, are they keeping Capuano around in case they can't get Q?
Q is the target, IMO. Interesting to see DT says in the release that it won't be a rookie coach, at least they realize that the time is NOW. The most important summer in their 25 years is this one. This team should be among those fighting for the top of the division/conference, not wallowing in the mire.
Stock up on the sunscreen, Q, and come on down and take the reins. "You Betcha!"

Edit: I guess Capuano's contract is up, so no need to fire him.

Hey Rats -

Interesting read here from ProHockeyTalk regarding the Cats and Q:

https://nhl.nbcsports.com...eek-transformative-coach/

Q (like Gallant) likes having control of his team and has a vision of where they should be and how to get them there. As he should. He goes to bat for what he believes in and that can sometimes lead to bumping heads with the brass - which is a good thing sometimes because it can bring different thoughts/ideas to the table for team growth.

I would love to see Q in Florida, but I think before that happens, the Panthers need to fix some things in the front office. You can't coach a team from the front office with a 'yes man' on the bench.

They have to trust and let Q (or whoever they bring in) run the show

Any team needing a coach and not talking to Keefe to me is making a mistake.

Just like Montgomery helped Dallas I think Sheldon could def. be an upgrade for teams.

At least I hope Murray talks to him about Ducks opening ...

Ok DT looks like you ain't going anywhere. Terrible decision, but it is what it is. Gotta agree, how the hell Capuano wasn't fired? Quinnville will be the next coach.

I think (hope, pray) that ownership learned some hard lessons after the Rowe Fiasco.
I think it will be Q, and I think DT knows he would take the job here, otherwise Idk if they pull the trigger on firing Boughner so quickly.

Need permission first for that one and given Keefe just re-signed a new contract, don't think that is gonna happen at all.

I'm glad they are bringing in Q but we are still going to have to address Def and goaltending. If we bring in the bread man, We need to trade a quality forward and Matheson for a gritty defenseman. I would like to get Colton Parayko from the blues or Josh Manson from Anaheim on the Panthers. Guys who know how to protect the blue line.

Matt how do you see them bringing in Bob and Panaria which will cost about 7mil each with only McGinn, Brower and Schenan ufa's? And who is getting traded as salary dump?

It’s a great question, Harvey.

I have no more insight than us fans do. I’d be surprised if they brought both in. Personally, I think Bob is probably more important right now.

I love Sheahan’s game and what he brings to that third line. I can bet Q likes him, too, because he plays a responsible, two-way game. I could see Brouwer being moved out because I Remember rumors of him and Q not be long on the same page in Chicago - but maybe they’ll make it work. McGinn is another guy I could see Q liking for his size/game.

Actually, there are a few guys on this squad that really strike me as real Q guys: Barkov, Sheahan, Hawryluk (who is similar to Shaw and Q loved #65), to name a couple. So I’m excited to see if he comes in and what he does.

Not to mention...what he’ll most likely do with the defense.

We just have to hope he comes here, haha.

They got rid of Bjugstad's contract, Reimer will be gone, only question is if they can get all of his salary gone, too.
Idk how the numbers crunch out, Lu staying makes it more challenging to add all three of, a #1 goalie, a solid d-man, and Panarin. Panarin seems to be the luxury of the three. Lots of possibilities as to how the roster will be tweaked. The most important summer in their quarter century of mostly irrelevant existence.

You think you’re getting Panarin for 7 million?
