I like your predictions, however History shows us that rarely do the first seeds make it, let alone both! I hope you're right! Tampa Bay are tough up and down their lineup, however, an injury to Vasilevskiy, and/or Stamkos/Kucherov disappearing when the hits and nastiness pick up... I don't know! Anything can happen, and that's why we watch!

Avs are better than people give them credit, they will take a couple of games , Calgary in 6 or 7 doubt its a sweep

Seems like a lot of people aren’t giving Colorado or Dallas much credit. People have this idea about Colorado that they have zero depth beyond the big 3 up front. Their depth has actually been pretty decent for a little while now and obviously Grubauer has been great whereas Calgary’s goaltending hasn’t. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is an upset. I’ll take the Blues in the west

Picking the two top teams in each conference with the best team in the league winning it all isn’t the most unique prediction in the world but I guess it’s the safest. Seems like everyone is really picking the Blues as the “dark horse”, the Jets don’t seem to be getting a lot of credit, maybe due to recency bias.

ISLANDERS - PENGUINS - PENGUINS IN 4

Gut hunch tells me that this one is going to be over fast.

Still won’t matter until they find a goalie and better defense.

Same old merry go round. Have/had plenty of scorers but no back end

And how else do you propose we find an elite Dman? We've been down the trading path and that didn't go well. You get 'em through the draft which is why Byram tops the list and why we have Bouchard and Jones in the system.

However, the lack of offensively skilled players throughout the lineup is the real problem. Outside of the big three, the forward corps is devoid of lateral thinkers that can keep up (sorry, Gagner). It leads to the team not being able to catch up when they fall behind or keep up when they have the lead. Klefbom, Nurse and Larsson (every year but this year) are 3 solid top-4 Dmen and Sekera has been in the past. Add a more secure 2RD and this D corps can saw-off and that's all it needs to be able to do.

Over the next couple years, the team needs to replace Lucic, Chiasson, Rieder and Gagner with one of Nyquist or Zucker, Connor Brown, maybe Andre Burakovsky, our high pick from this year (if Byram isn't available) and some guys from the AHL (Marody, Benson, Gambardella, Currie, etc). That's the path to success outta this.

The thing is....when the Avalanche upset the Flames in the 1st round, the rest of these predictions become useless...

Avs in 6, they will get it done and "that one line" will light up Calgary's shotty goaltending.

I predict Blues vs Penguins (it should be Tampa but those Pens just know how to get it done).

These are flat out awful predictions. With the firepower in Colorado, you seriously think they’ll be swept? Duuuumb

Penguins over Isles in a 4 game sweep and then Carolina beats the Pens in 5 games?

Okey dokey. I didn't realize that CAR was that much better than the Isles. Good to know. That's why we come here to consult the experts.

Don't agree with these predictions. Calgary has major goaltending questions. I think Colorado makes that a tough 1st round series.

Penguins over Isles in a 4 game sweep and then Carolina beats the Pens in 5 games?

Okey dokey. I didn't realize that people are wise to make at least one upset pick because the chances of every "favourite" going through are incredibly slim and the very nature of predictions are an effort to claim bragging rights on the off chance your upset pick works out. Further, I had no idea that picking one team over another team means the first team is superior to both teams. It never occurred to me that because A > B and B > C that does not require that A > C. The possibility that team matchups, injuries and puck luck can play factors in a series and that the better team doesn't always win hadn't crossed my mind.

I've never encountered predictions before and thus have not yet come to terms with this, but I'll take this knowledge to heart going forward and not complain about peoples' projections- even when they run counter to my own.

2nd overall with those goalies...and the Flames D is in another league

As for the Avs major firepower

Calgary scored 289 goals
Avs scored 260

Its the playoffs and anything can happen but Calgary is the overwhelming favorite

All true but it's a long season and teams go in and out of playing well.
I wonder what the numbers would look like over the last 30 days?

When the Avs were fighting for their lives and the Flames were a lock resting guys and trying not to get hurt?
