I'll be honest, I might not even watch these playoffs, i'm more interested in what is the plan going forward, how this team will look going into next season.

I'll say go jackets , but wow is this one sided, I want to believe in some kind of upset, unfortunately on paper and on record the odds are indeed against them.

This series will forever shape the future of the franchise. If they lose, a majority of UFAs are gonna walk. I could see Dzhingal stayin since he went to OSU and is familiar with the Cbus scene.

If they WIN, and make a deep playoff push...that may be enough to convince all four UFAs to stay. The pieces are in place to be very very very competitive for the next decade. If only they had a better coach. Dont get me wrong Torts fits with their style and has helped shape their growing identity over the years but imagine if someone like Barry Trotz coached this team? They probably would be a top team in the east right now

Columbus couldn't afford to keep all four of their big UFA's even if they wanted to stay

Columbus has about the same chance of beating Tampa that the 70-71 Habs had against the Big, Bad Bruins. Or, if that seems too distant, the 09-10 Habs vs the Caps, and then Pens. It’s why they play the games.

I agree an early exit (4-0 or 4-1) gives little encouragement to keeping Bob or Bread here. I also agree with the comment about not being able to afford the top 4 UFAs. I have to believe there was a plan to keep Duchene from the time they made that trade. If not I believe it was a poor plan to bring him in at all.
Winning this series would go a long way to retaining UFAs or signing other UFAs on July 1. I will be cheering my heart out the whole time for the CBJ but I'm not sure realistic expectations are taking down TBL this year.

I am cheering for the Blue Jackets in this series for one reason. John Tortorella... Clearly the one metric Columbus own Tampa in - post game press conferences with the coach... It's pure gold, and deserving of a good cup run....

You are cheering for the CBJ because if you beat Boston, you would have to play Tampa. Torts has settled down over the years. His postgame interviews are not the same as they were in Tampa/New York/Vancouver.

I did like it when he was asked about being excited to play Tampa and he enthusiastically said "Damn, Right...Damn, Right!" The team needs that confidence and it starts with the HC

yeah i also figure Dzingel might be the one staying, he also fits that John Torterella player type along with Jenner, Andy, Foligno:

Dzingel-Dubois-Atkinson
Foligno-Wennberg-Bjorkstrand
Texier-Jenner-Anderson
Robinson-Dubinsky-Nash

scratch: Hanikainen, Stenlund

Werenski-Jones
Murray-Nuttivaara
Savard-McQuaid (possible)

I'd watch anyway, you never know when the next time CBJ will get in. Spoken as a sad sad sad fan with 1 playoff appearance since 2006 will do that though. >.<

Tampa beats every team on paper. Got to hope for the upset like every other team that has to play them.

Not quite ready to discuss next season but I hope this is not even close to CBJ line up next season. Be lucky to get 30 wins out of that roster. DZ is a second liner at best, as is Dubois if we are being honest. With the exception of Anderson (and maybe Texier too soon to say) the rest of those names are bottom 6 forwards?
D corp looks fine if they can all stay relatively healthy. Goalie would be a HUGE question mark.
UFAs are going to need to be signed. Duchene is the wild card right now as I think we all understand that Bob and Bread are headed out. DZ is the one I agree that we could count on staying...but who knows.

Yeah . . . me too !! I think there are at least a few players in that lineup that won't be on the roster next season. (Wenn; Dubi; McQuaid)
Jarmo will make a major push at Du - with at least 50/50 he'll sign here. I also think he will use some of cap space made available by losing B&B to jump on a team in potential cap hell to trade for a young, NHL-ready RFA. Or maybe, since FLA will sign B&B they might be open to trading someone like Huberdeau - since they're sitting on at least 3 prospects (Borgstrom; Tippet; Hepionemi) ready to make the jump to the NHL. If I was Tallon, I'd consider that - bring in young talent, and keep costs down.
Alternatively, they may rather trade some of that young talent !

I know, I played with what whe already have. There is a need for a second center behind Dubois, problem is who is willing to take on Wennberg and his contract. Also I could see Korpi getting dealt assuming they are confident with Merz, and perhaps resign Kinkaid.

Hey ! If we lose all the UFAs - let's go with the template that works for everyone except EDM. We tank in 2019-20, for a top-2 draft pick, and go from there !! The 2020 draft is supposed to be pretty strong.

An alternative option would be to get a Trotz-like coach after we lose our premier-elite player(s), and then go to the top of the Metro !!

I really think Jarmo needs to get some draft picks for "early rights" for Bob & Bread;
then package players & use cap space in multiple trades: Wennberg; Milano; Savard or Murray; a defense prospect; try to dump Dubi (or buy out).

Also get the young EU players (Bemstrom; Gavrikov; Marchenko) over here playing in the AHL, see if they have the kahunas to hit the NHL, or if the AHL/KHL is their ceiling.
