I’m finding the weirdest poop.

This game might just be one of the better ones I’ve seen in the last year. Great back and forth.

Best game of the playoffs so far....I’m loving it

I think it's fine to stack one unit so long as it works (it did this year), but the 2nd unit shouldn't be so awful that it can never score. I'm looking forward to how our prospects can come in and try to change that. Marody and Benson being able to play on a softer minute 3rd line and the 2nd PP unit would help. Add a couple new wingers for the top-6 (Palat/Zucker and Brown) and I think we'll be on our way to something viable.

I’m still pissed we never traded Nyquist or Tatar to you guys. Would’ve done very well to spread the wealth.

Who’re you rooting for?

I’m going for the Sharks in the west.. (frank) Fleury. I want Jumbo Joe, Burns and of course, Nyquist to get that cup.

Only as POHO Would be a great story of comeuppance for the hubris of the Oilers organization. I'd trust Kreuger to piece together a respectable organization devoid of nepotism and insular thinking.
- MaximumBone

I wouldn’t mind him at all as POHO and represents the kind of change we actually need but with that being said it will never happen

All it would take is one key cog to drive that second unit. Lucic, Reider, Gagner, PJ, Chiasson nor Brodziak were that piece
- RafiDRW

I think you need at least 2 to drive an NHL PP. Two talented guys that can find and hit seams, can play the give-n-go game and are both passing and shooting threats allow enough space for the other three to find some room and open things up.

Nyquist would have been a great addition especially for the cost in the end

I’d have loved to seen Nyquist traded over here.. allow McDavid to be in the top unit and use Nuge/Draisaitl/Nyquist with him and put the other two on the second.

I can’t really cheer for any Pacific teams but I do think Vegas wins the west again this year

Kreuger as POHO

Verbeek as GM where you give him up to 3 spots for AGMS: one that focuses on player development, one that focuses on cap management and one that focuses on synthesizing scouting and statistical analysis into one department.

Revamp the entire pro scouting staff. North American amateur scouts can stay, but the European ones need to be audited.

It’s insane what they did last year and then this year, they added a whole top line with Statsny, Stone and Pacioretty. Holy (frank).

Verbeek would be such an excellent addition.. years of working with Detroit and Tampa on how to construct a proper (frank)ing team.

I’m sticking with my Verbeek to Detroit when Yzerman takes over but if Yzerman isn’t taking over Detroit then I would love to have Verbeek as our GM

Yup, I've said this before. Adding an entire 1st line of that quality shows an incredible commitment to winning and an eye for talent evaluation that I've never seen in Edmonton. Now they're adding Gusev who has some big offensive potential to their already strong wing depth and still have some quality in their prospect pool.

Verbeek won’t go to Detroit, in my opinion. Yzerman will but will keep Holland for a season. Holland will get Seattle and Verbeek goes west.

Could be a good off season trading partner for you guys. Maybe Marshy or Smith for cheap.. maybe Tuch even just for contract cost issues.

He fits the criteria perfectly. His work with successful teams for more than a decade showing an eye for identifying talent, scouting and developing it. It also helps that he has 5+ years of experience as an AGM so the business side isn't lost on him.

If not then the Oilers need to hire Verbeek but until I’m proven wrong it will probably end up being Gretzky or another disappointing name

I think that he realizes how good contracts work just as good as anyone. See the Kucherov and Stamkos deals. Scouting and development alone would be worth the hiring, but his acumen is so broad.

At this point, I’d want the Oilers to make a fresh hiring like Verbeek and allow Verbeek to make a colossal set of moves, including one very big trade that moves a Nuge/Klefbom/Nurse and some high end picks. Dump dead weight, promote from within, build on the wing and from youth while not under ripening people.

Watch it be Keith and he hires Wayne to replace Hitch.

Not disagreeing with anything you said but Tampa is a tax free state correct? I imagine that helps a little with contracts.....you can take less because you won’t be taxed or am I wrong?

That’s why I said I’m not disagreeing....Verbeek would get my vote if it only worked that way
