It's nothing more than lack of expectations and people feeling they have something to prove. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's weird how we see upsets every year and then everyone forgets about it when making predictions.

My bracket is looking good, well aside from the Jets/Blues series. Go Jackets.

Teams are so close to each other in talent now , that even a small amount of over confidence , our lack of belief can do you in . Easier to get people to believe they can do it when no one expects you to them when everyone thinks you already will .

In the Columbus-Tampa series the media never cared to look at the underdog team. Columbus has a lot of talent, and for some reason would play good hockey for a few games then look like a bad AHL team for five or six games.

Then they made the big trades for more offense and took forever to get organized. but it is a team with talent, enough talent to win the Metro if they would have played well all season.

Finally, everyone seems to discount John Tortorella and his staff. since he isn't some bombastic guy who got trolled by the New York Media these days he is ignored. He is also man enough to change how he handles players in public and private and has the team playing great hockey. I hope the CBJ continues to make people look foolish.

Before heading to Columbus, the Lightning, every one of 'em, should assemble on top of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and hurl the Presidents Trophy into Tampa Bay.

That thing has a curse on it!

🤔After the bad calls in the Vegas/Sharks game last night and the Kuch hit (possible suspension) this is the best you can come up with 🤔??? Brutal, just brutal. No wonder so many people trash you on here. Weak cable signal in your moms basement last night ?

That Colin Miller crosschecking penalty was such a weak call. Refs clearly tried to help SJ get back into the game. Especially since they were just on a 5v3.

If forced to pick, I imagine most people would take Boston over Toronto. Game 1 still doesn't change many people minds, and rightly so.

Only an idiot would have said the series was a lock.

All Boston really has is that amazing top line, aside from that they don't have much to make you worry.

But for whatever reason people like to think they have some allstar lineup lol.

That being said I'm sure the series will go the distance. Boston is the Leafs kryptonite.

Nobody has ever accused EK of being a genius or even bright.. To consider Boston a lock for the series is plain ignorant.. Hoop your forehead EK!

Bruins a lock? Not even close, the Leafs have a deeper roster top to bottom. About the only thing Boston has better then the Leafs is coaching. Tampa, I can see was a lock going into the playoffs.

Pure speculation! From EK. Last BIG underdog to WIN a cup must be the Canes. Blow Joe’s have a top 3 roster after they upgraded it. Far from a underdog.

Ek, the difference between some of these teams is 1 win out of an 82 game season. So the concept of favourite versus underdog doesn't even exist for half of these series. By your logic, St.Louis was the underdog because the Jets had, what, one more point this season? Whereas an intelligent analysis would have noted that for the last few months the Blues were playing much, much better than Winnipeg. That series was a lock to me. Moreso than Tampa or Boston.

What does the Buzztron say about this?

Stars over Preds would be an upset yet I picked that. So not always do people forget about the upsets or the underdogs

Edit: apparently quotes are not working

BOS over TOR was a lock? I really do not like the Leafs, but BOS was/is hardly a lock.

Also, many MANY people commented on how the Blue Jackets have a very solid team and shouldn't be overlooked.

Also, Canadiens, Bruins, Islanders, Oilers, Penguins of old were all locks/favorites most years...and they won.

I wee bit more preparation before blogging perhaps. (although you get a pass because it's fun to watch playoff hockey instead of blogging).
