Per Carp:

The Rangers have agreed with their two top prospects on entry-level contracts, sources told The Athletic Monday.

Igor Shesterkin, the goalie long considered the heir apparent to Henrik Lundqvist, and forward Vitali Kravtsov, the first-round (No. 9 overall) pick in last June’s draft, both agreed to their standard three-year contracts.

The deals cannot be officially signed, registered with the league or announced until after their KHL contracts expire May 1. But both players — who played in the Russian league this season — are expected to arrive in North America in late May and would then be in Rangers’ prospects camp after the June 21-22 draft, as well as NHL training camp in September.

Shesterkin’s arrival will force the Rangers to make some difficult decisions. The 23-year-old had a sparking season for SKA in the top Russian league, where he went 24-3-1 with 10 shutouts, a 1.11 goals-against average (second-best in KHL history)

That’s huge on Shesterkin. Have to try and get Hank to retire a year early, let him have his goodbye tour this year. I’m never going to be mad at Hank though, the guy carried this team for a decade, that can’t be forgotten about. I understand he’s “in the way” now but we have to find a way to do this with class. The guy brought us out of the dark days all the way to the SCF.

Our luck one of them will drop dead during practice and Kakko will be Brendl 2.0.

On an unrelated note I am feeling nice today so congrats on the Isles rebounding after losing Tavares by turning fodder goalies into studs, making the playoffs, and hopefully sweeping Crosby in the 1st round.

Riding his bike around NYC and cursing at people while they're working and he's out on a leisurely bike ride is not a persona on the ice

Yeah, with them trying to transition in a younger more skilled team, he'll be a good fit for them.

I don't think 3 goalies for 2 years is a terrible problem. Two of them will be on ELC next season and if this kid is the heir to the throne they can move Georgiev for assets since he will just be hitting his first RFA contract.

Was that the Joe Thornton calling the Rangers "soft" game?

On way back from college visit with my daughter, in car for next four hours or so. Will get something up on this and Philly hiring AV later tonight.

Horrible news from Paris regarding Notre Dame Cathedral.

41 games for Shesty, 41 games for Georgiev, like the Russian version of the Beezer-Richter tandem would be better

Shesty is the same exact age Lundqvist was when he got here in 2005 and Hank played 53 games that year

No, Tortorella lost his poop so it wasn't AV yet.

I think it might have been the game when Hertl scored 4 and Thornton saying he would be stroking "it" if that were him.
