Leafs need to pick up their Leafs lunch pails and go to work. This one is going to be a long series.

Some bloke on HFBoards basically nailed what I was trying to say earlier:

You can blame Dubas for not acquiring anyone to help shoulder the burden of being the “toughness” this team sorely lacks. This puts undue pressure on Kadri as everyone on the ice and the arena knew Debrusk was going to do whatever he wanted until someone shut him up.

We have exactly one person on this team that can dole out that type of physicality. Is that really fair to the rest of the team? At the deadline, Dubas got another softie in Petan. I do give him credit for getting Muzzin and as we saw tonight he added some spark when needed (only for Nylander to deflate it with his “speed and skill” a moment later).

Microsoft Excel doesn’t have a PivotTable that crunches the intangibles in playoff hockey. This officiating isn’t new. If you watch playoff hockey you realize that speed is negated, skill is only good when you have room, but intensity can carry games. Tonight we didn’t have the horses to respond. Even ONE player with meanness would mean Kadri didn’t have to do this himself. But nope, that wasn’t to be had.

When posters argued we should get that type of player, we were greeted with “we don’t need another Orr/Mclaren/fridge” in a pathetic attempt to gaslight a real concern

Although I'm not blaming Dubas because he's new to the job, but they need to look at the way they want to build this team in my humble opinion.

the lunch pail's belong to the other team. (WTF is a lunch pale?)

I thought it was a 6 gamer before it started. Leafs need to shoot some pucks at Rask. He looks shaky. The best play of the game for Leafs was that after JT was high sticked in the corner - with no call, he went to the net and gave Rask an oops upside the head. Bruins have run over Freddie at least a dozen times so far. If there is only one team getting called for penalties, make them count. Run over Rask and watch the knuckle draggers chase you around the rest of the night.

I agree with you Walshy. The thing is Leafs already have a perfect player on the Marlies that would be far superior to softie Johnsson. LW Mason Marchment should have been called up long ago. He's 6'4" mean, skates well and can play.

Yeah, he'd love a series like this. I hope management or Shanny thinks about the strategy going forward in the summer

Bruce Cassidy says the knee on knee hit his guy dished out was a shoulder on shoulder. I guess the refs where just as confused about the human anatomy.

This all day. Been saying it for months. They have zero chance with no one to intimidate the other team. poop, how old is DeBrusk and he has the balls to just run around on the Leafs? What does that say? Does anyone in their right mind believe a young guy like that would be running around against the Capitals? Against the Bruins? Look at Tampa playing a hard nosed team. Matthews does more non-hit stick wave fly-bys than anyone on this team and he's 6-3 220. Not built for the playoffs. At all. It's obvious, and has been for some time. People laughed at me when I said Martin was important, but it will be the Islanders laughing as they get past Pittsburgh and the Leafs are golfing. Babs and Dubas and their belief that the league will enforce the rules and they will win with PPs has failed and was on full display with DeBrusk on the very first penalty where Kadri had his hands in the air, got punched in the face and still got a quincy. The NHL will not protect a wussy team, especially in the playoffs. Plain and simple. And Shanny of all people should know this....

It's at least 5 - an in person hearing was announced tonight. It's only a phone interview for 5 games or less. He has to go dance in front of former goon Parros. What a (frank)en joke. Scored 36 points in 476 games - Parros should be making decisions that relate to improving the quality of hockey. Absolutely brilliant.

- winsix

Parros in such a role is ridiculous. Why don't they find a real player to take that role, like Lidstrom when he retired, or Sakic, or Datsyuk, or any other recent retired hockey player that actually was known for playing the game in an honorable or lady bing-esque manner, rather than a former punching bag? It's absurd.

-From last blog, but I'm bringing it over because I felt like it and (frank) anyone that has a problem with that... That's right. anyone!

Leafs are going into game 3 with a 1-1 game series. We now have the next two in Toronto. If the Leafs simply win every home game, we've got the series. So now home advantage means squat.

This is exactly where I would've wanted to be before the first game. GO LEAFS!

We are too disgusted to know what to say. Some things are just beyond human ability to spell out. Like NHL reffing.

Avery is as asshat, debrusk finished a check on Marleau shoulder to shoulder its unfortunate he hit the glass but it happens. Kadri is getting at least 5 games for that his sole intent was to decapitate debrusk. This series could get really nasty after game two, that would seem to favor the Bruins but you never know how a team will respond

The Broons are going to hurt your players, bruise them up, and they do it cuz they can. Like I said, when Craychee feels like he can throw his weight around, then it's the whole team playing bigger.

Leafs don't play big. Broons do.

Avery is such an idiot. he's literally the poster child for dirty play on the ice, but refusing to answer for it. him telling Matthews to step up and drop the glove goes so far beyond hilarity and irony that i don't even know what word to use to describe it. you can literally google "avery, turtle" and there are dozens of examples of him doing the complete opposite of what he just called Matthews out for.

Avery is a piece of poop that needs to disappear

The leafs have to play their game, they won when they played it. Last night they didn't play their game.

And the league most certainly has to fix the reffing, what joke. They have zero consistency. They say no headshots and then allow blatant elbows to the head and crosschecks to the face, until this happens then It's not ok.
