Wasn't dirty.
Unnecessary, as it was on Marleau. No reason to check him hard. Since it was on a star player it demanded a response. You nail a start player on any team you best prepare to man up to it right now. - Thornton22
I have no issue with Marleau getting hit. It’s was ratty and I wish the Leafs did more of that. |

Bruce Cassidy on Jake DeBrusk's hit on Nazem Kadri: "I thought it was clean. Looking back on it, shoulder to shoulder. Obviously Kadri stayed down. I mean that’s his prerogative when you get hit.”
A truly special kind of stupid. |

I will absolutely do whatever is asked including never posting again (I have no alts) if the Leafs beat the Bruins and the Jackets. - walshyleafsfan
I wouldn't make you do that. You're passionate about your stance and I respect that. It's not a crazy stance and you may very well be right. Time will tell. I just think Dubas is on the right track with getting skill over physicality. He's trying to be ahead of the curve and I wanna feel it out. Finding guys with skill and an edge is hard. You can't just trade anything for them. Trades in general are hard enough as it is.
But I do agree that the effort level of this team is sub-par. Although I feel like it always is, no matter the personnel. I don't get how that happens.

Orrrrr... like I said... people equate toughness to intensity. Play like you give a poop and good things happen. Weird concept right?
Good example. Ever see Matthews when he's pissed off. He goes into beast mode. His beast mode modus operandi isn't to run everyone over. He turns into a possession Hulk and makes plays from nothing. Because he's engaged. They were engaged in game 1. And not game two. The results speak for themselves. - UsernameUnknown
No point in trying to over explain this to him.. He’ll just rope you into this spin-cycle psychology debate and keep bringing up random poop to distract you. |

Yeah big surprise but at the same time least he said something and stood up for his guy and didnt hide from it and say nothing at all. Which coach showed his players they should care and fight for him??!! |

Been great, both games. Has anyone else been really good both games? Hyman has looked pretty good as far as role/standards go. |

I will 100% agree with that. I was talking to a buddy last week and said the exact same thing.
I think the Leafs are too far ahead of the curve if that makes sense. They've set their stall out and are waiting for the rest of the league to catch up. My only hope is the league does and does it within a few years. If not, we could've wasted a golden opportunity. And if the league refuses to catch up, we're screwed. |

No. Even less so without Kadri. I suspect he’s done for the series. |

This is exactly what I said. But this is where you guys are wrong. Hockey is played in America. America will never go soft, the NFL, NBA, MLB are all getting more physical.. The NHL will never be this league where a team top heavy in skill like TO will be a powerhouse. It’ll always come down to physicality in the playoffs. |

Ummm MLB more physical? Thats why you cant bowl over catchers anymore or hard slide take out the second baseman like before right?! Bad choice to say that. |

I can't say you're wrong here. There will always be Kadris and Tkachuks in the league and that's a good thing, but the league-wide trend is less hitting and fighting.
Playoffs are a different breed but even they will evolve soon, too IMO. |

that’s true. Honestly the only two guys I can think of, Tavares and Marner weren’t very good game two, and Matthews line didn’t step up. Having Tavares Matthews as a one two punch is awesome but need at least one line to come up big |

(frank)IN TIGERMANIA!! WOOOO!!
