I blame Dubas and Babcock for part of this. There is no excuse that we can't have a goon on our 4tth line to take care of this stuff instead of having to have guys like Kadri step up. The 4th line plays less than 10 minutes anyway. I hope we go after McQuaid in the offseason as a free agent and then get a guy for the 4th line.
- Matthews_Auston

I'd have to agree. Kadri is an important player on this team...and for him to feel he has to be the muscle on this team shows us that something is fundamentally wrong. You have a 4th line that plays 5-7 minutes a game....your telling me, we couldn't use someone like Matt Martin on this team, to deal with situations like Saturday night?

Babs and Dubas need to take responsibility for how the team is coached, and how the team is built/managed.

Now Kadri will probably be suspended for 5 games and we will have to now deal with losing one of our top forwards.

If Ryan Reaves is on the 4th line Debrusk doesn't do what he did. Plain and simple.
- Matthews_Auston

Kadri did that to DeBrusk with Chara 3 feet away. Hell, when Kadri got suspended last year Chara was 5 feet away.

So much for a "deterrent."

Also Reaves was on the 4th line when Joe Thornton killed Tomas Nosek...

This isn’t the 80s/90s where having Probert or McSorely was a good deterrent against cheap shots. It doesn’t mean poop anymore.

What does Chara have to do with anything??? So if Reaves is on the team you think he lets Debrusk run around like he did Saturday? Give your head a shake.

Shanahan is organizing a parent teacher meeting today. Kadri. Mathews. Nylander. . All their mommy and daddys are coming in to discuss their childrens performance. Maybe get them new pyjamas and a night light. Possibly even hand out gold stickers!!

Pretty good description from Saturday:

Babcock is right here in that both things can be true: the refs missed a lot of calls, and his team needs to do better in moving on from those botched plays if they want to succeed.

- walshyleafsfan

I agree with Babs here. When I feel it's unfair, I get pretty pissed, too, so this is a bit hypocritical of me, but it's still a case of what I know vs. what should be:

I often felt that the Blue Jays suffered from this. They were always griping about calls and moaning about this and that. It doesn't help. At some point the umps were not going to be doing them any favours.

Crosby, not as much as he used to be, was mauled constantly. He complained about it - which honestly was bloody reasonable considering - and was labelled a whiner.

But you're not going to change anything by getting mad and retaliating. You're not going to change anything by complaining, and you're not going to (in the long run) help yourself by diving.

Play through and execute. Get mad and play harder.

We've determined that there is no respect in playoffs. If Debrusk can cheapshot Marleau, then OFF WITH BERGERONS HEAD!

The perfect plan: we know thanks to Chara that if you're a veteran you can do pretty much whatever you want. In comes Marleau. We line match Marleau against Bergeron and by line match, I mean Marleau skates out and two-hands Bergerson somewhere below the shoulders and then skates off. This is allowed so it should work perfectly. (alternatively he can skate up to Bergeron and crosscheck him from behind somewhere between 3-5 times before he uses up his per-shift veteran discount)

- markmark

I like this plan because it means Marleau will be suspended, removing him from the lineup.

I agree with everything except the bolded.

Reffing was terrible and the rules were not applied which contributed to escalating things up to the Kadri hit.

But that crosscheck in the face was the worst hit in the whole game. Hence the hearing.

No,

The charge with a shoulder to the head of Muzzin was worse.
The knee on knee was worse.

I cannot wait till Babcock gets fired this off-seaon (if Leafs get knocked-out in 1st round).
These players do not like him. They don't play for him...they are playing for themselves right now....they are playing for the fans.

Anyone hear Trotz and what he said? he said, since training camp, they have emphasized on playing as a team...playing for each-other. Trotz is loved by his players cause he treats them with respect.

Babcock is all about himself and his arrogance is evident.
this line-matching is too much. you have 3 solid lines...ROLL THEM! let your players get into the game....feel the flow. NOT pull guys after 20 seconds cause ur trying to match.

“Everybody has to pull on the rope,” said Boston defenseman Charlie McCoy. “We have to play to our identity.”

If we play dirty enough for long enough, it can be the Leafs identity and then we're golden.
