I think this is a pretty honest and accurate response.

I've seen worse get no suspension. I'm not a fan of the "remainder of round one". Could be 3 games, could be 5. I thought Joe's hit was far worse. It wasn't the emotional, sticking up for a teammate rash hit, it was cold and calculating. He knew exactly what he was doing and should have gotten 5 games for it.

I gave up trying to figure out their reasoning.

lol, this ^

I actually dont mind what Debrusk did to Marleau. If hes playing in the NHL, he should be eligible to be hit, regardless how old or how long he has been in the league. I don't mind Kadri going at Debrusk for the hit as well, I would just prefer to see them drop the gloves and punch each other in the face than to have Kadri seemingly get his revenge with his stick.

And as for staged fights, I don't really get why people don't like them. People only seem to dislike them when it ends unfortunately for one player. Staged fights somewhat allow the players to police themselves without the ref's getting involved. If players feel the need to settle something, let them do it!

I get that the league has changed, but one of the reasons that Messier was so dominant was because guys knew the if you (frank)ed with him there was a good chance he would cross check you in the face. I would just like to have seen a number, 5 games, 7 games, whatever. Did Debrusk even miss a shift?

I completely agree with the whole Messier thing, and i like Kadri sticking up for his "hockey dad" in Marleau, but i just would prefer he did it within the rules and dropped the gloves and made debrusk pay the proper way.

if the league was deadset on Kadri being punished for this series, it would have made more sense to just say 5 games and be done with it. Because it is Toronto though, and they had/have an opportunity to win in 3, it would have hurt Kadri's feelings to be missing games in the 2nd round, so they gave them an "out" and just said "remainder of the first round", which i agree with, is absolute bushleague. DOPS has always been a joke though, and not attaching an actual # of games to a suspension is just something we have to laugh at.

I'm just upset because I have Kadri in my playoff pool and I need him playing games!

I don't think the league would allow a contract if it put a team over the cap though? I think all contracts, even the most mundane are vetted by the league office.

i agree with your view on the vagueness of the number. i kind of understand their logic in suspending him for the series but it's a weird precedent (although i know they've done it before).

a set number of games would be better.

There's no financial impact to the player, but they have to do something. 5 games could mean it carries over to next season, or round two though.

Personally, I don't think it was worth 5. 1 game for a first timer, 3 I guess because of his history.

if it's a 5 game suspension, it should rightly carry over.

suspending for the rest of the series is weird. does the nature of the suspension change if it happens in game 1 or game 5?

i agree with your assessment as to how many he should have gotten. it seems that the league really wants to go after the "retaliation" hit. the league cracked down a number of times during the season as well (if i recall correctly.)

Columbus wins tonight Bob, Panarin, Duchene, Dzingel all price themselves out of Van for next season.

Same with the Islanders Lee, Nelson, Eberle will be too expensive for Van.

i hope we don't go after any of the players named above, regardless if they make drive up or down the price with their play this playoffs or not.

Ferland and Karlsson.

Just kidding, I really want JB to do nothing but trade away a couple players. Collect picks. They have way too much depth now.

Just as importantly, the Karlson wanters, are starting to see how bad he is at actually defending.

I am not sure if fans are against 2 regular players having a fight on the ice, because of the battles going on out on the ice, moreso, just when 2 goons, who play 6-7 minutes a game, came out on the ice and dropped gloves.

its mixed. I have seen people loving the rivalry between Tom Wilson and Reaves, and Kane and Reaves, and others hate it. As for goons that only play 6 or 7 minutes a night, i think those days are almost gone, with the exception of a couple players. Most 4th lines play above 10 minutes a night now-a-days. We are seeing that with NYI and VGK, and those 4th lines are actually quite effective.

I'll take his career numbers over a couple of games, I also expect the narrative will change once SJ win the series.

I want no part of Karlsson as I'm weary of his injury history and that contract eventually is going to be an anchor.
But he's still one of the best I the league and will make any team he's on much better, to believe otherwise is crazy.

Call me crazy then.😁
Karlson is definitely one of, if not the best defenseman in the league, at creating offense, his defense is below average and probably needs to be on a veteran team that can cover up for his inefficiencies in that department.
A team of young players, who are still finding their way in this league, probably wouldn't make that team better. IMO
Karlson had 2 fantastic seasons in Ottawa and another very good season there, his other seasons have been a bit questionable, unless of course a person only looks at goals and assists to determine a players good/bad seasons.

Isles got a lot of $ and no RFA of significance to sign - so they shouldn't have trouble resigning but out of all the UFAs, the only ones id be interested in are Lee or Nelson - i think either would be great top 6 and still have 4/5+ years of being effective left.

I asked this the other day but what do you think the value of taking on Clarksons contract would be? (5.2+X1yr)
Vegas is in big trouble cap wise and I believe they took it on a few years back for a 1st & 2nd??
